I'm just wondering what people have made, how they made it, and what they used as inspiration.

Pics especially appreciated.

Thanks.

Since the Egyptian civilization and archetecture sort of burst on the scene w/o the normal evolution of society, We used an Egyptian motif sans inflluence of the Potolemies. Actually a sort of cross between meso Americas and Egypt.
Ever look at Hirsch (sp?) castle works. Look at the design possiblities for the Eyptian and the Small Alien line…. paticiiularly hyroglyps and design features.

TheRaven06 Dec 2007 6:27 p.m. PST

Oh and do not forget typiical Empire colonail archetecture. A Rorks Drit govenrment house on the Red Desert might be interesting.

cloudcaptain06 Dec 2007 6:48 p.m. PST

A Mos Eisley approach with no metal would work IMHO.

Tom Reed06 Dec 2007 8:33 p.m. PST

We,ve used a cross between South American and Egyptian architecture.

I used blister packaging from Toys and such, spray painted. Mostly red oxide, some light tan, and so on.

I have made a few different styles of buildings for use as Martian.

Take a look at my web site to see a few different fast and cheep construction methods.

I also cover other terrain there as well, check it out.
Most are intended for 15mm Victorian Science Fiction, but can be use in other scales and settings.

If you go to my website gamecraftersltd.com and look in the what's cooking section you can see a couple of martian buildings I have made

Wow! Thanks for all of the tips!

I'm thinking I want to add some very primary colored decorations/patterns to the buildings. Does anyone have suggestions of where to find something like that that might not be obviously from a real-world culture?

abdul666lw07 Dec 2007 5:10 p.m. PST

Very enjoyable site, DyeHard! Vey inspirational.

And I say so while 15mm is not my favorite scale.
Compliments,
Jean-Louis
