link No hair yet. I'm simply experimenting with facial expessions on three fellas with underbites. Please let me know what you think of these so far. Comments and criticism appreciated. Also, please forgive the bad lighting. I am still at a hotel. Thanks. CC TMP link |

I'd say those look pretty nice. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. |

Those look pretty darn cool. Very talented Cacique |

Thanks. As you can see in the photos, they currently have a slight acne problem. As soon as the current layers harden up, I will make sure that that is cleared up. CC |

Bloody brilliant. You've definitely discovered a hidden talent. Keep practicing mate, I'd love to see you tackle a complete Anthropoidic (is that a word?) model. |

Nice job, Are you planning on casting them up? I have sculpted a head for some conversions but I am trying to find a good 1 to 1 mix rubber for a mold. I have used smooth on ootoo 25 for some simple resin casts of crates I made in the past. I got like 20 lbs of metal that I have cleaned and prepped for casting. I have never cast in metal but I wanted to try my hand at drop casting the heads. |
Cacique Caribe | 31 Jul 2007 1:23 p.m. PST |
Thanks guys! They are still a long ways from being finished though. As for casting them, the last time I casted anything in metal was a very long time ago (late 80s), and they were nickel-chrone denture frames and palladium-gold metal copings for porcelain crowns and bridges. All of that with one-use-only type moulds. So, the casting (resin/metal) I will leave to the experts when the heads are finally done. CC PS. Elcid1099: I know what you are thinking next. Naps, right? :) |

Could they be cast in resin (60 for $10), like these Fortress skulls? link |

NYCJadie: "I had no idea you had sculpting talent." Neither did I. And I'm still not sure if I do. :) CC |

Look great and could be easily mounted on other figures for ape troops. |

"the dogs danglies"??? LOL. Is that a good thing? CC |

Oh yes CC Excellent – the absolute apex en.wikipedia.org/wiki "link Theres the definition so it must be true, strange what can be written about on the internet :0) |

Lowtardog, LOL. You are absolutely brilliant!!! You just gave me the name I will use if I ever name my simians: "Ape-X" CC |
Cacique Caribe | 02 Aug 2007 8:45 p.m. PST |
First, there were THREE . . . link But now there are FOUR MORE!!! link Let me know what you think. Thanks. CC |

Very nice so far. You'll need to do ape bodies too though as just adding them to other figures won't give them the distinctive POTA hunch. (or feet) |
Cacique Caribe | 03 Aug 2007 2:06 a.m. PST |
Thanks Paul! As for bodies, I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. Maybe someday. In the meantime, I have plenty of Ape-like bodies that I need to get some use from: link They are bulky figures, with an odd "simian" stance to them. CC |

For Gorilla types, I've started on this "semi-fleshed" skull "dolly": link link link Now, if only I could duplicate this structure multiple times, this would provide more consistent results with each Gorilla head that I finally flesh out and detail. I must do a bit of thinking on that. There's got to be a solution practical to my situation (living in a hotel while traveling on business). Let me know what you think so far of this "dolly" prototype. Thanks. CC |

Faces of the original 3 have been smoothed out (no more "acne"): link So, where are the Chimps? The next 4 are more Chimp-like: link CC |
Gharak21 | 05 Aug 2007 1:52 a.m. PST |
Looking good, You're a dab hand with the putty. As for duplication how's about just using push moulds? Would give you the face section and just sculpt the rear of the head. If you pop the greenstuff our before it's fully cured you can still change the overal expression. Push moulding link: link |
