Ok. Now that Yahoo Photos is closing September 20, I am giving their Flickr program a try. Please let me know if you cannot see the 9 photos I've just uploaded. They are the latest photos in this project. link Thanks. CC Previous photos: TMP link |
Cacique Caribe | 02 Jul 2007 12:27 p.m. PST |
If you are able to open the folder/set and view the 9 new photos, you will notice that I still have a bit of work to do still. The "ball joints" (for lack of a better term) in the jaw section still need to be textured in a more realistic manner, and the same goes for the individual jaw sections themselves. Also, I want to reduce the appearance of a joint around the neck. Other than that, please let me know if you have any suggestions or comments on progress so far and on how this may finally be completed. As always, I value your input. CC |

Nice stuff. Going to produce it? Would be a cool addition to the 5150 universe. |

Wow. Looking at the zoomed photos again, I can see I left quite a few finger prints! Gotta fix that. CC |
andygamer | 02 Jul 2007 5:22 p.m. PST |
Yes, CC, the second one allows you to see the pictures immediately, unlike the first one that wanted you to start a Flickr Account to access the pics. How many thumper rides did it take you to paint those? |
Cacique Caribe | 02 Jul 2007 5:30 p.m. PST |
Hundvig: "Nearly done, eh?" Yes. And it's about time too. I think I've been working on this on-and-off for two months, though it feels like forever at times. But, you know me, I'm not one to wait until the last minute for an unveiling. Constant pointers and criticism from the get-go is the way to go, I think, if you want your mistakes to be easy to fix. Plus, I keep finding photos like this one, to keep me fine-tuning what I already thought was done: link Geez. I'm never gonna finish this damned worm! CC |
Dances With Words | 02 Jul 2007 7:06 p.m. PST |
darn
.it's 'sad' when his 'nearly FINISHED' figure looks better than the REAL thing on TV??? *sigh*
oh well
not everyone can be a 'worm rider'/ala 'DUNE'
I did glom onto a bunch of 'damaged drones' from X-men Danger Room set
that I'm doing some kit-bashing on to 'fix up'
The spare 'gnerators' I also glommed onto went straight to my box of 'Titanian/Martian city' props
along with a new piece of 'aquarium scenery' I picked up over the weekend. Ideally, WHEN I get the 'room' to put this up on a table the size of a ping-pong game board!!!
I will be able to make a 'terrain' that can be used as 'TITAN' or 'Mars/Barsoom' or 'Arrakis' or suitable 'weird ice-desert/planet'??? and then add/subtract specific pieces to 'spin' the 'flavor' towards one genre' or another
your 'bug/worm-thing' would make a great addition to ANy fantasy/sf/pulp set CC
hope you can get it 'molded'/cast???? Carpe' Tentacle'um Sgt DWW |

Worked fine for me in Firefox. It has turned out very nice. Those added bits of crumpled earth and rock were just the thing! I was so tempted to comment about the "pleasure spines" but it would be just digging up old dirt, so to speak. The two-part feature allows for the straight-up emergence. That is very clever. |

As for plans to put the beast in production . . . . . . this really started as a personal challenge to myself. I've never really sculpted before, but these last couple of years have got me started on a few attempts. This just happens to be the latest and hardest attempt so far. Now that it is almost complete, and after seeing how much interest there is in the thing, I am considering making the green available for casting. A couple of people have offered to assist in getting some of my sculpts produced. However, I don't want to be too tied up with the business side of what comes with that. Let's see what happens in the next week or so. Who knows? There might be "non-graboids" on the horizon for all to enjoy. CC |

I just can't believe that worm is sitting in a box at home, unfinished, after I put so much work into it. I should have brought it with me on this trip. So close, and yet so far. I swear. If I don't get time to finish it soon, I'm gonna have to pass it off for someone else to take a crack at it. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 04 Nov 2007 4:44 p.m. PST |
I have not been able to make any more progress on it. However, if anyone is interested in buying the worm as is, please let me know. link This is one of those projects I don't see finishing in my lifetime, so I might as well give someone else a head start. CC |

Though it is, basically, 95% done, I can't spend any more time on it right now. Too many other projects and responsibilities at the moment. Currently, the only thing left to do is what was still pending back on July 2nd: "The 'ball joints' (for lack of a better term) in the jaw section still need to be textured in a more realistic manner, and the same goes for the individual jaw sections themselves." Riverbluff Wargames, did the "early bird get the worm"? Sorry for the pun. It was fully intended, of course. I wasn't vying for it, but I'll say one thing- if CC sells it, will he then be "turning a new worm"??? I promise to stop now (cough, cough). Hey CC, if you ship it, how big of a bottle of Tequila do they make down your way anyway? It was just a thought. I'll move on now but in all seriousness, I hope it finds a good home! |

Ah yes, that was "turning a new leaf" I know, but hey, a worm could be on the leaf, right? (cough)

The 28mm version was sold to Riverbluff Wargames and was very, very big. I have a feeling I saw a website a while back*. It was was sold nearly-finished back in 2007 or 2008. I know I was on the road at the time and could not break away from work to add the finishing touches. Not sure if he will ever cast it, though I hope he does. I would love couple of those casts! Dan *Piotr, you might PM him directly, for additional information. |
