Apophis tried this already. SG-1 landed on the asteroid with the idea of using a nuclear blast to push it out of the collision course with Earth. Now what?

Now "monster asteroid to hit Earth" is at Torino level 0, so it looks like they made it (-;)

Of course further radar measurement opportunitys (in 2013 for example) may reveal new shocking information…

Darn G'oauld…they just don't give up!…even though when last seen, Apophis was surrounded by his own personal 'force field globe'…on a G'oauuld pyramid ship filled with REPLICATOR 'bugs' crashing into the surface of some planet 'far, far away'…Could his defense screen have protected him against THAT too??? hmmmmmmm….shoulda killed the replicators though (they were all over the OUTSIDE of his 'shell'…which is why they left him to crash in it…

SG-1 was going to blow the asteroid UP, till they found out it was basically made of Naquada…or whatever…which wouldnt' have blown up but become a miniature nova and consumed the earth…(the G'oauld's SECRET PLAN)…but SG-1 used the hyperdrive on stranded G'oauld freighter they got to the asteroid with…to temporarily 'shift the asteroid' to hyperspace so it passed harmlessly 'thru' the eart and out the other side….before they were rescued by another ship of the anti-G'oauld…leaving the NG freighter…(and the nuke! on the place and it was drifting off to go someplace out in the great beyond…again…

Well, I guess those snakey things just don't give up…so maybe Sci-fi will call SG-1 out of 'cancellation' to give it another 'go'…??? One can always hope!!!

BRING JACK BACK!!!!!

One more question… Why does CC always say Apophis is a cometh when in fact it's an astheroid?

I thought Anubis is the one who loaded up the asteroid with naquada and fired it at Earth. Apophis was dead(twice over) by that point.

Hi

Ahhh, but he wasn't REALLY dead.

very interesting articles there.

Nah. It will never hit Earth. The press like to blow things out of proportion. They cry wolf so much that no one will believe them when a real emergency is about to hit.

qar qarth15 Jun 2007 2:29 p.m. PST

Ok. Even if it hits the effects will not be global, I would think.

Cacique Caribe15 Jun 2007 5:47 p.m. PST

I think it would devastate or severely disrupt whatever region it hit.

We land a nuke on it in '29, and blow it up when it moves away.- vaporise the Bleeped text.
