I've found a few, including this one:

Does anyone have any other "nice" links with images of massive fictional devastation, from film, concept art, etc.?

Thanks.

Hopefully large well done ruined cityscapes. Thanks.

I'd like to know a cheap way to fill an entire table with 28mm terrain like this (for a Terminator-style game I plan on doing using AT-43 figures and a modified version of Two Hour Wargames, All Things Zombie rules).

Scurvy11 May 2007 12:50 a.m. PST

foamcore is what you want to use Saladin.

I actually found a neat link in the other thread:

Awesome Japanese images made from photos.

The rest of BLDGBLOG is cool, too.

6ft x 4ft city table for about £20.00. Much less if you do a ruined version.

I personally like the terrian featured in Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. It's kind of a mismatch of terrians.

This is interesting:

No that's picture what they should have done with battlefield evolution.

Earl of the North11 May 2007 11:20 a.m. PST

Should have been now thats what they should have done with BFE, CC got me thinking about doing terminator games now.

Cacique Caribe11 May 2007 11:22 a.m. PST

"CC got me thinking about doing terminator games now."

Sorry mate! :)

Earl of the North11 May 2007 11:29 a.m. PST

No need to apologise, just got me thinking about it thats all, maybe limiting the skynet to one sub in its intial attack, nuked eastern seaboard, world in turmoil, mixed human forces and skynet's military spreading out from a central hub to conquer the world…must go and lie down for a while…okay i'm fine.

Cacique Caribe11 May 2007 11:47 a.m. PST

All of these concept art images could easily be used for terrain inspiration in a Caprica resistance game too!

Fallout & Fallout 2- good times playing those! Wish they made more in that vein rather than the real time stuff :(

Captain Apathy13 May 2007 6:45 a.m. PST

Tell me about it. The Fallout series and its predecessor Wasteland were great RPGs.

RubberRonnie13 May 2007 7:16 a.m. PST

I read in a PC magazine 2-3 weeks ago that a new Fallout game is on it's way, trouble is I can't remember who's making it. It's going to be 1st person, rather than the old style isometric.

Captain Apathy13 May 2007 7:56 a.m. PST

Interesting. To tie it back to the original thread, here are some screencaps that might make for interesting terrain.

Interestingly enough, one of the screenshots is of Washington DC.

Thornhammer13 May 2007 8:44 a.m. PST

Bethesda is making the new Fallout game, the same folks who brought you Morrowind and Oblivion. So they know how to do First Person right.

Cacique Caribe13 May 2007 9:18 a.m. PST

Captain Apathy,

That screenshot of DC is fantastic! It almost reminds me ot the overgrown DC shown in "Logan's Run".

With the types of terrain resistance soldiers such as these would encounter . . .

TMP link

. . . Would they benefit from urban camo of this type?

CC – Your urban cammo question depends on who your soldiers were fighting.

If they are fight other humans, than sure urban cammo would help. Anything that breaks the soldiers silhouette and blends in with the surrounding environment would help.

However, if your soldiers are fighting machines (ala Terminators) then cammo wouldn't help much. In that case, functionality and ease of production would be important.

Also, if your soldiers are fighting aliens, then urban cammo schemes might not work. Especially with the aliens see a different protion of the light spectrum than humnas do. For all we know Bright Pink polka dots might do the trick for blending in with an aliens perception of the landscape. ; )

"Bright Pink polka dots"?

Hmmm. There's an idea I had never considered before, even in my wildest dreams!

CC

Captain Apathy14 May 2007 7:15 p.m. PST

Hehe… kust make sure you post pics when you use that cammo scheme. ; )

qar qarth21 May 2007 10:47 a.m. PST

Awesome photos. I can't wait to try making terrain like that for gaming the Terminator resistance war.

Cacique Caribe21 May 2007 11:22 a.m. PST

"Terminator resistance war"

My thoughts exactly:

Cacique Caribe22 Aug 2007 9:32 a.m. PST

Knockman,

Very interesting photos. Looks like a ghost town. I was half expecting to see lots and lots of ruins.

CC

Knockman22 Aug 2007 11:03 a.m. PST

CC,

There is another website, set up by a German lass who tours the Zone on her motorcycle – if I remember where the link is, I'll paste it up – unless someone finds it before me!

Lots of pics of the remains from WWII in Ukraine – bunkers, etc.

Knockman02 Sep 2007 1:47 p.m. PST

Aric,
many thanks – that was the site I mentioned earlier.

Spooky pix – and in Chapter 8, the last photo shows a derelict tank in someone's back garden – any ideas on what it is?

chironex05 Sep 2007 7:42 p.m. PST

KV of some kind?

Here's some Australian imgs of dereliction, I couldn't get any closer- my mother says it's a contaminated site. Full of asbestos.
