Wander through your local hardware store, and take a look at all the screws, bolts, nuts, connectors, cabinet knobs, electrical fittings, and so on. It's enough to make any 28mm Mad Scientist jump for joy.

CC, those carriage bolts would work in a pinch, but could also pinch you if you were not carefulwink. if you want better force field posts, pick up the #4909 Power Plant by Pegasus Hobbies. I added a few hex pieces from the Tehnolog Hexagon kit and made these-
