This is only Phase 1 of a little experiment of mine . . . I took two Skink heads, removed their crests and added them to Dark Eldar bodies. I still have to texture the necks a bit and complete the assembly of the figures: link So . . . what do you think so far? CC |

Neat idea that looks like it will implement well for you too. |
Rodrick Campbell | 25 Feb 2007 5:26 p.m. PST |
These are quite nice. I like the combination of the skink heads and DE bodies. Will you be adding tails? |
Goldwyrm | 25 Feb 2007 5:44 p.m. PST |
Looks good so far. Keep us up to date when you're finished. |

"Will you be adding tails?" Not sure yet. Another thing I might try is making the feet more like those of raptors. The inspiration for these is actually this fella: link CC |

Your work is commendable. How bout making it into something that walks on all fours and perhaps rears to a standing position in some instances. If you have read my complaints in other threads you know that I am an advocate of alien figures that are not of the bipedal/man in the rubber suit variety. Hard to achieve but I believe it would be worth the effort. If I had the talent I would steal your idea and try to make a figure such as I describe here. |

Allen57, I agree that, in general, there are way too may bipedal, humanoid-like figures already, though I know of only a few recent reptilians that fall under sci-fi. However, my goal is to duplicate what would have evolved had the KT asteroid not hit Earth (which unfortunately happens to be bipedal and humanoid-like): link picture picture link link TMP link CC |

Nice customization. Have you had a look at Komodons from Dragon Rune? dragonrune.com/DRHome Happing conversions. Oggie |

CC, I understand. The figure is a great piece of work. Al |

Say, that looks great. I've seen Dark Eldar bodies with Kroot heads before, but the heads looked disproportionately big. Skink heads seem to work very well on the other hand! |

Ogdenlulimus Thanks You, I have been looking for those forever, I could not recall who made them or where I saw them, I just remembered Dragonfish, and that was all, I kept finding the hideous Dragonewts from Discount Hobby. Anyways, these look pretty kewl, not something I would be interested in much though. |

I really wish someone had done an entire range like these though: link link CC |

I like the look. Darn, now I wish I hadn't glued up and primed that big batch of Dark Eldar. I have plans for a Saurian race for my Stargate game. I've been collecting figs, but didn't think about Skink heads. I just might give this a try. Thanks! Very nice! |

Nice work! I've seen a Speed Freeks army using Lizardmen instead of Orks somewhere but can't find the link for you. It looked VERY cool and was 100% tournament legal to boot (not that that really matters to most people
). |

"and was 100% tournament legal to boot (not that that really matters to most people
)." Fortunately, I stay away from such "legal" restrictions. I am not sure how I will game them but, for me, the conversion attempt was too good of an idea to pass. I may still try the same with Tau Fire Warriors. I will try to post new photos as they get done. CC |

The idea you have is a pretty cool one. I'll be interested in seeing what they look like once you get some paint on them. |
John the OFM | 27 Feb 2007 12:23 p.m. PST |
Cool. I'm glad the skinks found a good home, even if it's just their heads. |
John the OFM | 27 Feb 2007 12:25 p.m. PST |
I would be interested to see you get these in a WFB or 40K "official" tournament. They are sure "legal"! |
Cacique Caribe | 27 Feb 2007 12:39 p.m. PST |
John, Many thanks for the sprues! The hands, feet and tails may still be used. I'll give that a try in the coming days. CC |
Glenn M | 27 Feb 2007 1:02 p.m. PST |
Or you could just mount the Dark Eldar heads onto the Skink Bodies . . . that would be odd, if you try it, try flipping them around and mounting them horizontal, that might be cool. |
Asia Invincible | 27 Feb 2007 6:53 p.m. PST |
Just my opinion but I think adding tails would add lots of character to the figs. But I think I wouldn't add the short stumpy lizardmen tails but something a little longer, more facile. Something similar to the tails they put on demons maybe. And you could make it prehensile and add another weapon to their repertoire. |
Cacique Caribe | 28 Feb 2007 6:13 a.m. PST |
Actually, I was hoping to come up with something like this tail-less example: picture link However, I may still add tails. They are still up in the air, so to speak. :) CC |

I agree, a slender, skinny tail would be interesting, with the possibility of using it as a brace for heavy weapons, or the like. If you're wanting to keep it 'legal', try giant rat tails, or just roll something smooth out of GS |
