"Headmaster"? With that hat he looks more like an Uhlan to me. I only hope he doesn't get his lance out! |

ech. Good paint jobs, but ugly figures. They look poorly sculpted or maybe cast to me. |
Goldwyrm | 23 Jan 2008 6:32 a.m. PST |
On one hand, my observation is that we have a dichotomy between what can be written in a post and what can be displayed on the screen. It reminds me of Victorian sensibilities in some form, like the covering of legs on a table because their form was thought to cause arousal. However, I do believe slapping this picture on the homepage skirts the line on acceptable, especially given the focus in today's society on criminal and taboo teacher/student relationships. |
Plynkes | 23 Jan 2008 6:39 a.m. PST |
If you have your adult content filter switched on it doesn't appear on the front page anyway. So may I suggest that people who are offended by such things avail themselves of that particular TMP function rather than getting their knickers in a twist? |
Dan 055 | 23 Jan 2008 6:44 a.m. PST |
Yes, whatever we do, we shouldn't try and uphold standards. |
Goldwyrm | 23 Jan 2008 6:44 a.m. PST |
Excellent point Plynkes. I was commenting for the pun of it. |
Pictors Studio | 23 Jan 2008 6:59 a.m. PST |
I think what Plynkes was pointing out is that we have control over the standards. If you don't like that you can turn it off, standards upheld! |
Lee Brilleaux | 23 Jan 2008 7:02 a.m. PST |
As the guy who painted them ---- well, I wouldn't have bought them for myself. Alex is very kind in saying that the paint jobs are good but the figures are ugly. The second part is certainly true! |

"She's getting spanked for being ugly?" – no, I think Professor Uhlan is having to spank her for not polishing his lance properly. And seriously, are people really going to be offended by this picture of two toys? If so, I think they must work/live in a rather strange & puritanical world! |

I just foresaw it! Okay, I find it funny, but I work with other adults and don't think this is over the top (errr, "bottom?") for work. If I were concerned I would turn on the adult filter. That said
um
anybody got a figure of an angry nun holding a ruler? ;-) |
Editor in Chief Bill | 23 Jan 2008 8:20 a.m. PST |
By the way: If you want to position the figures so that they are actually in "spanking" configuration, don't base them individually – you'll need to base them together, most likely. Reminds me of... |

I find this article S T U P I D beyond all ing belief. I've recently directed some people to TMP to learn about miniature wargaming and have always had a link to it on my web page (which is ten years old this year). At hbby shows when I put on a display, I always have TMP as a reference. So what the is the relevance to this to miniature wargaming? As in: Welcome to The Miniatures Page, the home of miniature wargaming on the Internet. A "wargaming miniature" is a scale replica of a soldier or vehicle intended for use in a game. I'm really not interested in other people's (the original word was bleeped out when I posted – see the PS below) fantasies. We're a nerdy enough hobby as it is, we don't need s making it worse for us. THanks a hell of a lot for putting this crap on your web site Bill. PS you bleep out the M word for and yet you put up crap like this? There's something wrong there, I thing. I'm really irritated by these school girl sex fantasies that get posted on TMP. Some people lke that sort of thing, well, fine I guess, but please don't sit up and go "d-uh why is everyone offended?" when a number of us take offense to having our wargaming miniatures hobby (see the TMP mission statement quoted above) associated with your s. Why don't you just make models of a priest ? Please tell me the difference? Some of us have lived through our small children having been raped in the woods across the street. And still live with the experience 18 years later. Should I amend my link to TMP with the words "caution, this site is inhabited by a significant number of s and there is a significant amount of non-wargaming models that feature ."? What say you Bill? I think you should put the same warning right on the top of your site. |
Phillip Forge | 23 Jan 2008 1:18 p.m. PST |
I'm afraid that images like this may stir TMPers to post ad nauseum, pontificating the rights and wrong of the subject matter. As I don't want to disappoint myself I will now pontificate: Quality of models: 1/10 Quality of painting: 2/10 These sort of images really do reinforce the publics view that wargamers are a bunch of pervs. This is not the sort of thing that TMP should have on the front page. |

Everything is wrong about this piece. it sends out totally the wrong message to any parent of a youngster who is getting into wargaming. What is more, the sculpting is dreadful, the paining worse. Please remove it. People get sent to the dawghouse for language that can only be described as near the mark, yet this pseudo-paedophilia is allowed? I cannot understand the double standards. |

These figures make my farts smell good. This should be taken off because the sculpting is truly horrible. It hurt my eys. :) I really don't care if she is bending over or . I don't think anyone has the right to stop me from seeing it though. If you don't like it go somewhere else. Yawn

Anyone else would have been dawghoused for a week for posting such filth. Well, relatively speaking. OK, not filth, but something. Maybe such suggestive comments, remarks, and discussion about a fetish such as bondage and discipline. Spanking. So, I guess it's OK to now discuss fetishes on TMP?
I love double standards. |

jbenton | 23 Jan 2008 8:12 p.m. PST |
I wasn't going to say anything at all about what is a rather silly, ugly set of miniatures, but then I went and read this sort of nonsense: >Should I amend my link to TMP with the words "caution, >this site is inhabited by a significant number of > s and there is a significant amount of non->wargaming models that feature ."? If you do then I also recommend appending it with the disclaimer "There are a also a number of models representing various military factions and governments, and by my reasoning anyone who wants to play with little toy soldiers of a given faction must also support the actions and philosophies taken by that faction." And before you try to object, yes, your argument is in fact that ridiculous. Actually let me amend that: it's far, far beyond that. Why? Because it shows a rather typical, and lamentable attitude that violence and the trappings of violence are acceptable, but the first time anything even slightly "naughty," and quite frankly the above miniatures are less lewd than an average night of television, is brought forward everyone that doesn't immediately burn out their own eyes and scream for blood is some sort of deviant. Trying to bring the spector of a child being raped into the picture to add weight to your argument is nothing less than despicable. Child molestation of any sort is a horrible, unforgivable crime, but the only thing you've done is trivialize it in an effort to make a point. |

I remeber backin the 70's there was a 54mm vigette of a pirate raping a woman. Those fun loving guys people(gamer and nongamer alike) admire. The sculptor captured the shame, fear and pain on her face. I think they were series 77 figures. In comprision this is only mildly offensive. |
