How long does Fernando Enterprises take for an order? I gather you have sent a few batches to him. What was the average size of each batch? Does that effect delivery time and/or quality?

I have sent 20 orders to Fernando over the years.

They do have a minimum order size, so I just try to make sure I sent "lots" of minis in each batch. For example, my current painting order with them comprises 17 15mm vehicles, 72 28mm figures, 235 15mm figures, and 26 6mm vehicles.

Surprisingly, size of the order doesn't seem to matter, they have a large staff and once your order hits the painting tables, it goes pretty fast. Quality is generally reliable.

Seems to take about six months for them to complete an order, with most of that time waiting for them to have a painting slot open – then, it goes fast.

The enemy archer find in hard to return from because of the distraction they make.

an important aspect is the cost of postage. The larger the order the smaller the price per figure for postage. If you send one figure, the cost will be about five dollars per figure. If you send 100 figures the price will be about two dollars a figure, if you send 500 figures the price will be about $.50 USD per figure.

I have sent about the same number of orders as Bill has. Almost all 25–28 mm. All excellent work. In the beginning you just got the figures back, hoping for the best. Now however you get pictures of the first figure of the batch and you can tell if anything needs to be fixed.

I haven't ordered anything in the last two years but prior to that I don't think I waited more than three months for anything. Nowadays I'm doing a lot of Skirmish gaming, so my orders would not be large enough for Fernando. So have used domestic sources.

There have been a few, very few, cases for something did not turn out just right, but nothing that I couldn't just touch up myself. I guess that all happened before he had the test pictures. I had some Maximilian French artillery men in a box with Martinique infantry. As it would be, the artilleryman got painted Black, too. Well I just Drybrush most of them with euro fleash and they were fine. Some I just used as Mexicans, With just a bit of tannish Drybrush.

@Bobgnar,

can you share some of the domestic sources? I have a few sets I would like to have done, but not enough to justify an overseas send.

Thanks,

HC
