I like the scheme, Bill. Very nice work overall :)

Would suggest the edges of the bases be black like the flat surface, rather than red, as it dilutes the appearance of the red on the armour.

Yep paint the bases either black or a neutral color, i.e. brown or grey. Overall good job and evocative. Chaos is the most fun army to play. evil grin

I think that's right, and looking at them a bit more, I think blue is not the right colour for some of the highlights.

Blue is a cool colour and the fierceness of the red armour is compromised quite a bit by it. Yellow, tan, orange, or a yellowish metallic (brass, gold, bronze) would complement the red armour better I think.

I dunno, I kind of like the contrast with the red.

The contrast is fine -- that's not the point really. The point is that blue is a cool colour, and so it cools down the models quite a bit.

The blue doesn't look quite right. I'd test a few models out for a steel or anodized black look. What about making the blue handles a little more dinged up looking?

What brand/hue red is that?

Hey, did you do some Blood Marines not too long ago :-)

Would suggest the edges of the bases be black…

I'm using the base edges as a color code for the army. I like to do that so newbies know which models belong to which army. So red = Chaos Space Marines.

I'm matching the colors on the Chaos Lord.

Not me, sorry…
