Last month, we opened the box on the Institute Core Box for Fallout. And now, I can show you how one of those figures turned out from my workbench.

My first tip is to wash the figures well before priming. I forgot, and so wasted time getting a good overall black basecoat.

I chose to copy the painting scheme from the box cover: blue environmental suit. So I painted everything blue, drybrushed light blue, washed with blue ink. That's most of the figure done.

Then it's just details. The 'face' is gray with gunmetal scopes. The gun is white, with a red rim at the end, and bits of gray and black. I tried to match the cover photo and put a 'firing dot' on the gun, but it's off-center (I'll re-do it). The pocket is white (I chose not to paint the red zipper). Unlike the cover photo, I kept the footgear blue like the suit. The sensor was gray with some highlighting, and a red thing on the side.

The scenic base comes with the figure. I painted it sidewalk gray, then added various bits of rust, steel, and mud. I finished it off with Coat d'Arms Dark Brown Super Wash.

The base sides were no longer quite black, so I went over them again with permanent black marker. LITKO round FlexSteel was stuck on the bottom, so the figure won't bounce around in its magnet-lined storage box. A final sealing with matte clear and it was done. A easy paint job and decent results!
