In the previous article in this series, you saw the Amazon bladedancers. Now, we complete the army with three unique command stands.

Amazon commanders

From left to right: Princess command stand, Queen-Mage stand, Queen-General command stand. All figures painted for us by Old Guard Painters in Ukraine.

Amazon commanders

Princess-General

Amazon Princess

We previously showcased the Princess on Griffin and Princess on Panther – now we have the Princess on foot, as the central figure of the command stand.

Amazon Princess

I chose to give her an Amazon Warrior and Amazon Scout as bodyguards. Perhaps I should have given her only one companion, so the stand would more obviously be a command unit.

Amazon Princess

Under the Mighty Armies rules (Rebel Minis), which are the rules I'm currently using, the army list makes this figure a Princess-General with the special ability of Tactician.

Amazon Warrior

In this close-up of the Amazon Warrior from this stand, you can see the painting technique being used. It looks odd when you zoom in on it, but gives a dramatic effect at tabletop viewing ranges.

Queen-Mage Stand

Amazon Queen

The Queen is the central figure again on her command stand. I chose to give her an Amazon Warrior and Amazon Scout as companions.

Amazon Queen

This figure is described by the manufacturer as the spellcaster of the Amazon army. Under the Mighty Armies rules, each army can have one unit designated as a spellcaster. In my optional Amazon rules, I've added a new unit type to allow the Queen to be solely a spellcaster.

Queen-General

Amazon Queen

To present the Queen in her fighting aspect, I chose to mount her with a pair of Amazon spear.

Amazon Queen

This is the Amazon Queen as army general, as presented in the official Mighty Armies army list.

Amazon Queen

Another option would be to designate the Queen-General as the army's spellcaster, turning her into a Queen-Mage-General!

Army Completion!

This completes this Amazon army project!

Amazon army

Is this a large army? In wargaming, everything is relative – you can game with any size armies you want to!

Amazon army

Considering that my recent 15mm fantasy gaming has been with armies of twelve stands or less, this is a very large army! grin

However, I've optimized the design not so much for size, but for variety – lots of choices of what specific army mix I can deploy.

Amazon army

I'm a huge fan of these sculpts, and the manufacturer is getting them back in stock again, so if you like them – buy some!

I'm also quite pleased with the painting provided by the painting service.

Next, I need to work on my fantasy campaign plans…
