Daring raid on a heavily protected space station. I succeeded in sneaking in a destroyer with 2 long range hitting gunboats with a very meager escort. After a heavy fight 3/4 of the defending ships were out, my escorts were halved and my destroyer was badly mauled. But the most important part; the space station was still allive (damn) I had to run as reinforcements would arrive soon. I managed to limp away with the expensive destroyer (phew) and I could rescue all ejected crew. I was driven off but my enemies paid a high price: many fighters destroyen and crew killed as they bravely defended the station and worse the station was hit hard, very hard. Probably 60% of the facilities were destroyed. We are playing a campaign and that damage will be very expensive and difficult to repair. A second fleet of mine is already gathering to finish the job now he is weak..... [04 Nov 1999] |

There I was with the rest of the Espan Reserve unit #127 "Dirtfarmers" patroling the fringes of our territory. We tore into those Kashmeri rats like a vrak worm on brreg rice. Our meager force of 4x Blood Hawks, 4x Stingers, 4x Saucer Shuttles keyed their attack pattern's by slotting in around our primary elements 2x Kosmos and 2x Stratta. No doubt we were out-gunned, we lined up against an impressive Kashmere force including 4x Helbenders, 4x Maruts a Varuna a dredded Black Widow, and who knows what else? Anyway, the whole assault was a calvacade of ineptitude. Don't get me wrong, the tactics we sound but nobody could hit anything, not even the Black Widow. Odds are the Kashmere would have comeout on top, if he had takent he time to think about it, but the battlefield does not give a man that time so he left the field in defeat. In all honesty, if they had not turned tail and fled it may have ground down to a tie, or those Kashmeri punks may have pulled it out. [03 Nov 1999] |

It was a Sunrunners versus ASP fight, and much to much my enemies' surprise, I flew my ASP fleet right up his middle and blew away his big guys. I was having a rough time of it, but it actually looked like I had a chance to win, but we declared it a draw. [03 Nov 1999] |

StarFleet Battles. 2 Constellation Class cruisers vs 2 Klingon D7's, upgraded with missile packs. A few asteroids for terrain (10..all moving 1 hex per turn in the same direction). The two Federation ships concentrated their fire on one D7 until it exploded. The other then left rather quickly. I like the detail of the game, but many ships in an action slows the game down greatly. Its also hard to get a "kill", since a badly hurt ship can usually get up enough speed to get off board. Recently played the basic 3 on 2 fight out of the basic Full Thrust main book. A new FT player wanted to run the 3 FFs vrs my 2 CLs he did a emergency warp jump with his last FF on turn 4 [12 Jun 1999] |

I played Starmada about a month ago. I had a 500pt size fleet of Arcturan Federation ships, including one Seraphin Class Battlecarrier. A 3-sides battle ensued between friends. The Arcturan fighters were able to create aerospace superiority, but could not stop the shields 5 transports of the Sssk (a lizard race with boarding parties). The two Ssk transports launched pods which penetrated the fighter defense screens and boarded the ship. I lost one of the escort frigates in a duel with an Imperial Invincible. However the Seraphin was able to diable the two lead imperial vessels with its ion cannons. Easy pickings for the anti-matter beams :) I would have won the battle except for the valiant, but futile efforts of the crew to fend off the boarding parties. The seraphin was a ship designed from a more peaceful time with greater range weapons. Too bad they could not learn the lessons from Rome and Carthage. The Carthaginians might have won the Cold War. Played the Star Wars game at Historicon '98..lost of fun, the game used Full Thrust...the rules were simple and easy to use and rewarded good tactics...I like rules like that. [24 Apr 99] |

We had a battle of two battlecruisers on 8 destroyers in a playtest for "Exordium Tactical". The chief designer managed to pilot one of his battlecruisers into a planet, and the destroyers were able to quickly put an end to the rampaging ruptors of the surviving BC. [19 Apr 99] |

The last game I played was a six-way Full Thrust game pitting the forces of the NSL/OUDF against the might of the might of the ESU/FSE. The game was fun for all involved as we had small ships fighting to the bitter end, while much larger ships we "striking the colours" after only minor damage. Those smaller crew sure are brave! The highlight of the game was when our ESU Dreadnought came into range of the OUDF Heavy Cruiser. The cruiser fired a missile volley and then opened up with all the other weaponry it could. In the end, our brand-new Dreadnought had been reduced to a smoking hulk, with the threat of a reactor core breach and the crew running to the life-pods. A victory to the ESU in the end, but very, very close (only 2 ships left per side, out of a total of forty!). [15 Apr 99] |

A couple of friends play our first battle of BFG last Sunday with fiqure included in the box Imperial vs. Chaos, a classic battle. After a few close turns, the Chaos side won with heavy damage to both sides. When we quit 3 cripples and one smokin hulk on Imperial and 3 cripples and heavy damaged ship. In general, I like the system I think a few rules needed tweaking. The ships are cool. [30 Mar 99] |

Full Thrust, using rules from the Fleet Book. A much faster game than we had expected, and very entertaining. [29 Mar 99] |

I was playing Battlefleet Gothic 2 Lunar class cruisers against the retreating Chaos Battlecruiser Abomination. The battlecruiser had some minor damage (basically a hit missing) and the Lunars had to destroy the ship or risk a battle against the wounded dreadnought and a Starbase. The Imperials launched torpedoes and fired their Nova cannons but were successful in achieving only the loss of some lances on the enemy before the battlecruiser turned and launched a retributive strike. One Imperial ship was crippled on an (extremely) lucky die roll whilst the other ship emerged unscratched. The Battle ended with the Chaos ship reaching safety. We played a game immediately after with 1500 pts worth of Imperial ships attacking a mined and defended 'harbor' near a planet that Abomination had retreated to. The Imperials dished it out and got an expecially lucky stroke when the Chaos Battlecruiser's warp drive imploded and took the station with it. Afterwords there was just mop up in terms of the Imperials survivng the next Chaos turn. Victory was achieved Praise the Emperor! [29 Mar 99] |

Hosted a demo. game of FULL THRUST at a friend's Book/gaming store, had five peole show up,did the cruiser demolation derby.lasted 5 turns won by my 11y/o son because he started out all along on one end of the table, everybody else started out in weapons range and began to pound on each other so weaking themselves. And then one of then decided to try to engage his ftl drive making himselve a wounderful fireball. That's when my son moved in killing the cripples and winning the game. Two Kilgon D7's protecting an advance sensor station Vs 2 cloaked Romulan war birds (as per my full thrust conversion :) I actually refefed more than played in this one as I was constructing rules for cloaked ships. 1 D7 would swing out in a wide orbit to attempt detection on the cloaked ships they KNEW were out there when suddenly a romulan uncloaked and fired upon the outermost D7! The D7 unleashed a furious series of blows to the Warbird, crippling it, as the inner D7 rushed to his buddies aid.... Straight into the fireing arc of the second Warbird as it uncloaked to strike the sensor station. At this point it was discovered that a full up D7 will NOT withstand the blow from a Plasma Torpedo, but it will stop the shot from hitting the station. The remaining D7 managed to get and hold a sensor lock on the Warbird and proceded to destroy it before it could get another shot off. [27 Mar 99] |

Two Jovian Pathfinder exo-armors were escorting a Mercurian space freighter, when they were attacked by squadron of (presumed) Venutian Ryu exos. The Ryus avoided a series of guided missile attacks from the Pathfinders (Ryus have an anti-missile system), sustaining only minor damage on the approach. One Pathfinder was destroyed by Ryu cannon fire, and the other took a serious thruster hit. The Ryus then closed on the frieghter, penetrating its cargo hold with point-blank cannon fire, destroying the cargo (war materials headed for the Martian Free Republic). As the Ryus thrusted away, the remaining Jovian exoarmor activated its distress beacon, hoping to catch the attention of a friendly vessel before time ran out.... [26 Mar 99] |

Played late last year (Nov?) Four sided general brawl. Designed to introduce some pals to FT. 1 Battleship, 2 Cruiser per fleet. Minis used: Fleet 1: Old Citadel Space Fleet Eldar (BB) Silent Death Bioships(C). Fleet 2: Traveller SDB (BB)Traveller Type S (C). Fleet 3: Traveller Patrol Cruiser (BB). Old Silent Death something (C). Fleet 4: Traveller Subsidized Merch, (BB), Old Silent Death something (C). Your basic multisided dust-up. Fleet 1 was handed the fait accompli win as he started out the farthest away and was going slowest. The rest of the players had pretty well gutted each other by the time player 1 got into it. Playing time including setup about an hour and a half (including BS'ing). FT is quite simply one of the best games I've ever spent my hard-earned $ on. [26 Mar 99] |

We have been introducing new players to the new Full Thrust movement & weapons systems (in the Full Thrust fleet book). To keep things easy for the new players, we use basic forces for each player, and the ships on each side are almost identical, so the emphasis of the game has been movement & maneuvering for position. IMO, this makes for a better game. [26 Mar 99] |

The last space game I played was a "Fly 'Til You Die" scenario for Silent Death at a local game store. I was doing rather well, having just upgraded my ship to a "Dolphin", when my so-called "friend" decided that, if he was going to lose (which he was), he was going to take me down with him. I spent the next five turns losing the initiative roll to my "friend", who proceeded to follow me around the starmap, taking pot shots at my behind. By the time someone rescued me (with the strategic application of a Mk. 50 torpedo... =), I had taken enough damage and wasted enough time that victory was no longer within my grasp. That's okay though; revenge can be a wonderful thing... =) [26 Mar 99] |
