Daring raid on a heavily protected space station. I succeeded in sneaking in a destroyer with 2 long range hitting gunboats with a very meager escort. After a heavy fight 3/4 of the defending ships were out, my escorts were halved and my destroyer was badly mauled. But the most important part; the space station was still allive (damn) I had to run as reinforcements would arrive soon. I managed to limp away with the expensive destroyer (phew) and I could rescue all ejected crew. I was driven off but my enemies paid a high price: many fighters destroyen and crew killed as they bravely defended the station and worse the station was hit hard, very hard. Probably 60% of the facilities were destroyed. We are playing a campaign and that damage will be very expensive and difficult to repair. A second fleet of mine is already gathering to finish the job now he is weak..... [04 Nov 1999] |

Silent Death fleet battle as part of a home-grown campaign. Played on a ping pong table with over 300 ships [03 Nov 1999] |

There I was with the rest of the Espan Reserve unit #127 "Dirtfarmers" patroling the fringes of our territory. We tore into those Kashmeri rats like a vrak worm on brreg rice. Our meager force of 4x Blood Hawks, 4x Stingers, 4x Saucer Shuttles keyed their attack pattern's by slotting in around our primary elements 2x Kosmos and 2x Stratta. No doubt we were out-gunned, we lined up against an impressive Kashmere force including 4x Helbenders, 4x Maruts a Varuna a dredded Black Widow, and who knows what else? Anyway, the whole assault was a calvacade of ineptitude. Don't get me wrong, the tactics we sound but nobody could hit anything, not even the Black Widow. Odds are the Kashmere would have comeout on top, if he had takent he time to think about it, but the battlefield does not give a man that time so he left the field in defeat. In all honesty, if they had not turned tail and fled it may have ground down to a tie, or those Kashmeri punks may have pulled it out. [03 Nov 1999] |

It was a Sunrunners versus ASP fight, and much to much my enemies' surprise, I flew my ASP fleet right up his middle and blew away his big guys. I was having a rough time of it, but it actually looked like I had a chance to win, but we declared it a draw. [03 Nov 1999] |

StarFleet Battles. 2 Constellation Class cruisers vs 2 Klingon D7's, upgraded with missile packs. A few asteroids for terrain (10..all moving 1 hex per turn in the same direction). The two Federation ships concentrated their fire on one D7 until it exploded. The other then left rather quickly. I like the detail of the game, but many ships in an action slows the game down greatly. Its also hard to get a "kill", since a badly hurt ship can usually get up enough speed to get off board. A past game of Full Thrust (2nd edition) took place around an unnamed planet, smack in the middle of two nebulas. My opponent and I chose 1000 point fleets, and set course to engage. My tactics were to overwhelm him with fighter squadrons; he concentrated on missiles and larger ships. Several turns later, I had missed with too many torpedoes, and he had destroyed the engines on an otherwise undamaged heavy cruiser with a well-timed pair of needle missiles. I finally conceded when his point defense batteries eliminated my last effective fighter squadron, and my lone carrier was about to appear around the planet in front of his 2 relatively unscathed cap. ships. Next time, I'll make sure to use torpedo fighters that can actually damage a ship through multiple layers of screens. Or maybe his missiles are the way to go... [27 Apr 99] |

We had a battle of two battlecruisers on 8 destroyers in a playtest for "Exordium Tactical". The chief designer managed to pilot one of his battlecruisers into a planet, and the destroyers were able to quickly put an end to the rampaging ruptors of the surviving BC. [19 Apr 99] |

Most recent was Star Fleet Battles; SFB is a great duel game but breaks down when more ships are involved. I prefer Full Thrust for groups of ships, and Jovian Chronicles for realistic space combat [6 Apr 99] |

Currently our group is playing Starmada, an excellent(and free) game you can get off the net. Overall it is fairly simple but it does give a lot of depth as far as ship creation goes. Anyone who enjoys Full Thrust would love this game. Give it a shot, its free. [2 Apr 99] |

My last SF starship combat game was a B5 scenario I ran at our local club, set during the Narn-Centauri war and using the TBP variant of the Full Thrust rules. An EarthForce squadron was recovering a covert science team from a system in a backwater near the Narn-Centauri border (unspecified research was going on). A nasty three-way action ensued which saw the Earthers getting away largely undamagedbut with the CO of one of the cruisers facing a court martial for opening fire contrary to orders. [2 Apr 99] |

Battlefleet Gothic. I showed a friend the introductory scenario and he was hooked after one game. Very evocative ruleset. [2 Apr 99] |

Played Battlefield Gothic for the first time last night. Fleet of 4 Imperium Cruisers against fleet of 4 Chaos cruisers, I was the Imperium. I got lucky and zeroed in on his flagship with my Nova cannons at 135cm, plus got lucky with damage rolls. Chaos flagship was crippled. I then closed while bombers finished off the flagship, and eventually split the Chaos fleet such that my forward weapons were firing at one ship while my port weapons got a full broadside on another, crippling both. Chaos resigned, Imperium went home with no damage. [30 Mar 99] |

A couple of friends play our first battle of BFG last Sunday with fiqure included in the box Imperial vs. Chaos, a classic battle. After a few close turns, the Chaos side won with heavy damage to both sides. When we quit 3 cripples and one smokin hulk on Imperial and 3 cripples and heavy damaged ship. In general, I like the system I think a few rules needed tweaking. The ships are cool. [30 Mar 99] |

While deployed to Bosnia from July 1998 to January 1999, I took my Full Thrust rules with me because it is fast, simple and exciting in comparison to other games that have become way to complex for even a mathmetician to understand. The last game we played was an all out action involving 6 ships in a starship duel. [29 Mar 99] |

BattleField Gothic... 4 Choas Cruisers with junior commander against imperial fleet with decoy. I accomplished my subplot by getting the young and promising commander "blooded" and managed to disengage with two ships of my four, while destroying one enemy ship and the decoy. [29 Mar 99] |
Craig Phillips |
It was a game of Battlefleet Gothic. I was playing Chaos against Imperials. On the second turn, I got one of his cruisers in the firing arcs of all my ships. Suffice to say, the rest of the battle was not pretty. [29 Mar 99] |

Two Kilgon D7's protecting an advance sensor station Vs 2 cloaked Romulan war birds (as per my full thrust conversion :) I actually refefed more than played in this one as I was constructing rules for cloaked ships. 1 D7 would swing out in a wide orbit to attempt detection on the cloaked ships they KNEW were out there when suddenly a romulan uncloaked and fired upon the outermost D7! The D7 unleashed a furious series of blows to the Warbird, crippling it, as the inner D7 rushed to his buddies aid.... Straight into the fireing arc of the second Warbird as it uncloaked to strike the sensor station. At this point it was discovered that a full up D7 will NOT withstand the blow from a Plasma Torpedo, but it will stop the shot from hitting the station. The remaining D7 managed to get and hold a sensor lock on the Warbird and proceded to destroy it before it could get another shot off. [27 Mar 99] |

Babylon 5 Wars by AoG is the most recent I have played. I played a loyalist EA fleet against a Minbari player. I look forward to the second edition rules, as this has promise to be a very good system. It would be much better as a campaign however (which I have written adhoc rules for that we use). I did just purchase Battlefleet Gothic today, and it looks very good, much better than the first rather lame version. I really wish Fasa would bring back the Tactical combat simulator for another setting, as they lost the Trek license. Perhaps their Battlespace game setting which is NOT a very good game in itself. The Tactical Simulator is one of the best ever done. Pity it is so hard to find now. I do plan to convert a great deal of universes over to it in the future. [27 Mar 99] |

It was a made up Full Thrust scenario at a convention. A small NSL fleet engaged a larger ESU fleet. The NSL side actually had some reenforcements in a near by asteroid field. Even so the ESU won. [26 Mar 99] |
