It was a 1500 point Battle Fleet Gothic Game between Imperial and Chaos fleets. Imperial won. [3 Nov 1999]

Star Blazers at Gen Con '99. Teaching the system to anyone who stoped at the table. =20 [3 Nov 1999]

StarFleet Battles. 2 Constellation Class cruisers vs 2 Klingon D7's, upgraded with missile packs. A few asteroids for terrain (10..all moving 1 hex per turn in the same direction). The two Federation ships concentrated their fire on one D7 until it exploded. The other then left rather quickly. I like the detail of the game, but many ships in an action slows the game down greatly. Its also hard to get a "kill", since a badly hurt ship can usually get up enough speed to get off board. At now I am playing with Starblazer/Battlefleet Gothic miniatures using Starmada rules. Nice miniatures, great and simple rules! [02 Aug 1999]

Recently played the basic 3 on 2 fight out of the basic Full Thrust main book. A new FT player wanted to run the 3 FFs vrs my 2 CLs he did a emergency warp jump with his last FF on turn 4 [12 Jun 1999]

I played Starmada about a month ago. I had a 500pt size fleet of Arcturan Federation ships, including one Seraphin Class Battlecarrier. A 3-sides battle ensued between friends.

The Arcturan fighters were able to create aerospace superiority, but could not stop the shields 5 transports of the Sssk (a lizard race with boarding parties). The two Ssk transports launched pods which penetrated the fighter defense screens and boarded the ship. I lost one of the escort frigates in a duel with an Imperial Invincible. However the Seraphin was able to diable the two lead imperial vessels with its ion cannons. Easy pickings for the anti-matter beams :)

I would have won the battle except for the valiant, but futile efforts of the crew to fend off the boarding parties. The seraphin was a ship designed from a more peaceful time with greater range weapons. Too bad they could not learn the lessons from Rome and Carthage. The Carthaginians might have won the Cold War. The last game I played was a six-way Full Thrust game pitting the forces of the NSL/OUDF against the might of the might of the ESU/FSE. The game was fun for all involved as we had small ships fighting to the bitter end, while much larger ships we "striking the colours" after only minor damage. Those smaller crew sure are brave! The highlight of the game was when our ESU Dreadnought came into range of the OUDF Heavy Cruiser. The cruiser fired a missile volley and then opened up with all the other weaponry it could. In the end, our brand-new Dreadnought had been reduced to a smoking hulk, with the threat of a reactor core breach and the crew running to the life-pods. A victory to the ESU in the end, but very, very close (only 2 ships left per side, out of a total of forty!). [15 Apr 99]

My last space game was a simple slug fest with a couple of friends. [12 Apr 99]

Been Playing Star Blazers Fleet Battle System. A great game that's a lot of fun. [11 Apr 99]

James Manto

Finally got my official NeuSwabian League superdreadnought assembled and painted and justHAD to play with it.

If I remember correctly my battle squadron (SDN and BB) took on Barry's green HCs and DN in a slugging match while my DDGs and LCs

tried swinging around the flank to pound him with missile salvoes. My BB and SDN survived but heavily damaged by a torpedo bomber attack, but I only lost a couple of DDs, whereas he lost a BB and a couple of HCs which ate a couple of good vollies of missiles (plus close range pounding from my SDN, :^) [10 Apr 99]

I played Starmada with my friends at the local game store. We like Starmada for its simplicity, yet fun. Consider me a reformed Star Fleet Battles player - don't like games with too many rules. [10 Apr 99]

Doug Lowrey

Currently our group is playing Starmada, an excellent(and free) game you can get off the net. Overall it is fairly simple but it does give a lot of depth as far as ship creation goes. Anyone who enjoys Full Thrust would love this game. Give it a shot, its free. [2 Apr 99]

Our last game was a Starmada battle between the S'ssk Nesting and the Border Worlds Union. The Nesting forces were a well balanced fleet - the Border Union deciding on a fighter/carrier heavy contingent. The battle was bloody and exciting. Each side was valued at 700 victory points, and as we've come to expect from Stamada, the point system works so well that most battles balanced by points are usually very close. This one was no different. The only unfortunate aspect of the game was that it was the second game of the night (games play very quickly), and since we were playing at one of the local shops, closing time did not allow us to finish the game.

Stamada is one of those space combat games that plays quickly without sacrificing depth. It's a great game! [30 Mar 99]

As it has been ~4 months since I have had time to play, I can't remember any specific details. All that I remember is that it was a LARGE fleet battle played in Full Thrust, with one side (mine) being composed of fast, slightly fragile units and the opposition being slow bricks. I believe the game was called on account of time with no clear winner. [30 Mar 99]

alexe

It was a full Trust game based on our Nazi's in Space idea. Rocket ships look more like something out of the old buck rodgers/flash gordon films and a lot of daft stuff. I think in our last battle ReichsAdmiral Goering (great-grandson) beat Admiral Kennedy (the Hero of Dallas) in a close fight for the Pluto Waffen-ss colony !Told you it was mad ! [30 Mar 99]

Craig Phillips

It was a game of Battlefleet Gothic. I was playing Chaos against Imperials. On the second turn, I got one of his cruisers in the firing arcs of all my ships. Suffice to say, the rest of the battle was not pretty. [29 Mar 99]

Renegade Legion Interceptor: A mixed cadre of 16 fighters is sent on recon for a TOG space probe. A refuelling base on an asteroid is located with a 6 heavy fighter bodyguard. We had to destroy the scientists escaping in a capsule before they got off the board, while eliminating the recon base as well as a secondary objective. We trashed 'em. Good maneuvering can take out a ponderous fighter, even with weak little weaponry.

Good maneuvering can take out a ponderous fighter, even with weak little weaponry. The key is to realize that you have to act like hyenas, and pour all of your resources into the destruction of a single wounded fighter before turning on the rest. Split your forces into multiple waves, and keep them together. Lone small fighters will get victimized, whereas groups of three or four will frighten larger opponents and force them into defensive positions they shouldn't be in. [26 Mar 99]

This was the miniature rules from Earthforce Supplement to Babylon 5 Project. A Narn vs. Centauri battle, and my first chance to play the Narn. I was looking forward to wiping those silly hair fans off their heads with the nifty engery mines. But, things started out bad. The time came to launch the engery mines, so I put out a nice line of them just where I expected the Centauri to move to. Well he turned to his port will I moved straight ahead right on top of my own mines. All my engery mines hit my ships and none of his were touched. There was not much hope after than for the Narns. That tactic has already become know as Tom's bonehead maneuver. I'm looking for a rematch, this time with a, hopefully, wiser admiral. Tom [26 Mar 99]

The last space game I played was a "Fly 'Til You Die" scenario for Silent Death at a local game store.

I was doing rather well, having just upgraded my ship to a "Dolphin", when my so-called "friend" decided that, if he was going to lose (which he was), he was going to take me down with him.

I spent the next five turns losing the initiative roll to my "friend", who proceeded to follow me around the starmap, taking pot shots at my behind.

By the time someone rescued me (with the strategic application of a Mk. 50 torpedo... =), I had taken enough damage and wasted enough time that victory was no longer within my grasp. That's okay though; revenge can be a wonderful thing... =) [26 Mar 99]

My last game was a Star Fleet Battles game from our ongoing campaign, pitting a Klingon C7 and a Gorn CA+ against a Hydran CHC and IRQ. The terrain was a planet with two moons. On Turn one the forces approached rapidly with both sides doing about Speed 24. Towards the end of the turn, the two sides were in range, and firing began. The C7 dropped a scatterpack and launched some drones, while the CA+ launched two plasma torpedoes and tried to turn off behind the planet. The Hydran fighters were shredded by Starfish drones from the C7, but not before they and the fire from the Hydran ships had combined to do about 30 internals on the Gorn. The retaliatory Gorn/Klingon fire did about 30 internals to the IRQ. On turn 2, the Gorn swung around the planet, The Hydrans headed behind one moon long enough to break the lockon of the scatter pack, then HET'd and headed for the Gorn. The IRQ was hit by one plasma torpedo which severely weakend the #5 shield. The C7 pursued and fired another Alpha strike at the IRQ through the already weak #5 shield, doing about another 30 internals and slowing it to speed 10. The C7 also dropped another scatterpack. The CHC, however, managed to overrun and blow up the Gorn CA+, while taking about 15 internals anmd losing two shields, and part of a third to the fire of the Gorn plus drones from the C7. On turn 3, the CHC ran for a board edge, pursued by the C7, which managed to get a shot in through a down shield as the turn ended and do about 35 internals. At this point, Hydran reinforcements appeared in the form of a Mongol CM, so the C7 (with a weak shield) and outnumbered 2-1, turned and headed for its board edge, pursued by the Mongol. The CHC made best speed to escape. ON Turn 5, a Gorn HDD towing a PF appeared as reinforcements fopr the Gorn/Klingon side, and the C7 turned back into the fight. The Mongol was badly damaged in the resulting exchange while the Gron PF was destroyed. When a Klingon D5FK appeared ! as further reinforcements at the start of he next turn, the Hydrans withdrew.

Very hard choice. I play SFB regularly and think it is the best pure tactical game in many respects. I've played Full Thrust for some time and think it's and excellent fleet game. However, I just got hold of Battlefleet Gothic and the models are so outstanding, combined with the clever rules, and the campaign integration, that I felt I had to vote for Battlefleet Gothic. However, I will probably continue to play all three games as often as I can. [26 Mar 99]
