RECENT BATTLE REPORTS
Igor Pouilllon

I played a Demonworld game with my Imperium army against one of my best friend who have a Bear Thain army(they are barbarian). He tried to go to close combat but my bowmens and guns were not agree. Those barbarians were fast all dead when they finally arrive to fight. I won it was a great game [3 Nov 1999]

HOTT with a difference. Medieval fantasy vs Ent army. Knights won. Close game. [27 Sep 1999]

We meet every few weeks with four or five people for a Saturday of Demonworld. When we meet in private, we play short campaings (following the campaign rules in the Demonworld Compendium, which are acually playable with very few modifications). Occasionally we run small tournaments at local cons, too.

My last games were at one of these local cons; there was a special scenarion where a magical circle in the middle of the field sucked in heroes to duel one-on-one. I had mostly mages as individuals, and they didn't fight so well... [30 Apr 99]

Huge 6mm battle (Undead VS Arabians) using DBM with fantasy rules add-ons, lasted about half a day (1200 pts per side). [23 Apr 99]

Igor Pouillon

It was a Demonworld game. I had a Imperial army. My opponent had elves and I lost. He was lucky and his strategy was better. [22 Apr 99]

Jonathan Meys

I smashed my opponents army into tiny pieces with my 7,300 points huge CHAOS (and all the other COOL bad-guyz) and my opponentS started crying and didn't stop until the next morning. [2 Apr 99]

I can't write very well english, but I try.

It was a demonworld battle between orcs and imperium.I had the human and my army was a lot of close combat units with a general who was a magi too. The strategy was to run with the cavalry on the right, the foot soldiers fought together with cavalry and the orcs will go out the battle. It was fun and I won. [2 Apr 99]

Ignasi

Orcs vs. Helsinians. The game was, as all Raven games, great. [1 Apr 99]

tony hayle

It was a 10mm orc and goblin versus a medieval army, using the house rules called whack, chop and splat, good game.

it lasted nine turns and left the orcs trying to make a break off the table without getting chopped to pieces.

im about to buy armies of arcana. [24 Mar 99]

A quite massive 10000 point warhammer fantasy battle, with only little magic, it was quite enjoyable. Good Guys (Empire, Brettonia, High Elves, Dwarfs) vs. The Bad Guys (Undead, Chaos Warriors, Chaos Beastmen, Orcs, Lizardmen, Skaven, Dark Elves) 2 Players aside me commanding the Empire and the allied command (elfs & dwarfs) according the rules we wonm, but I call it a bloody draw. Strange things happened (whole units rolling 1's, a mere champion with a 25 point magic item defeating a lord character Anyways, curse of the years, proved quite deadly, again, to my unfortunate troops The battle took so long to complete, i think we will be using DBM with some modification next time. 1200pt (10 turns) Demonworld : Empire (Me) vs Elves A human company felt in an elvish ambush. In a few turn elvish archery totally destroyed the humen who tried to come in close contact. The humen archers didn't do great things, cause the elves had a greater fire range, so all they need was to fire, then retreat a few hexes. At the end of the 5th turn, the human company was only 15 guys left (of 55), and the elves were still 25 (of 28). The two first humen lines were totally destroyed. The human general saw his defeat, but he decided to fight until the last stand. The "reserves" were put in the melee, they charged the elves, pass thru a rain of arrows, and engage close combat. The elves were so surprised, so feered, that they flee away. At the end of the sith turn, the humen faced only the elvish general and the elvish sorcerer, wich were killed the next turn. Once again the empire won. [22 Mar 99]

FR! A good game between Dark Crusaders (Unholy) and wood elves. (Could happen???) Played 2600 points per side, a huge battle with 50 plus units per side and 10+ characters. The Unholy Avatar started on a 17 because of over 42 infantry and cavalry in his army. The rules sytem copes well with large games by altering the morale clock every turn and increasing the morale clock for capturing a character. The game lasted 4+ hours and was won by the Elves in the end. The blessed bow armed troops of the Dark Crusaders played merry hell with the elves, and knights and elite knights in heavy Armour make your longbows a lot less deadly. The elves did win in the end, but not by bowfire, it was their 3 dragons and riders that managed to outmaneouver and outfight the enemy. The queens dragon got SACRIFICED by the enemy cleric but she just survived to join a Faerie Folk Warband and run off and hide for the rest of the battle! Very very good, a laugh, astounding results occasional! ly (fantasy afterall) but infantry and cavalry tactics still work well.

Plays really well without magic protection devices, they suck, dont use them. Take a risk with your characters and units, thats whats its all about, if you want buy your spellcaster a bodyguard. [16 Mar 99]

Well, in my last mass combat game, me and a friend crushed an army of Vermin rats (ruled by two friends of us) with my orc hordes. The game was great, played between four players. [13 Mar 99]

**The Battle of the Great Glade** Fought using FR2! as part of my Campaign - http://dig.anthro.niu.edu/hills/default.html

(As told by a Hill Dwarf scout who witnessed the battle from a rather precarious position half way up a tree.)

The two Celtic Hosts faced each other across the glade, and prepared themselves for the ordeal that was to come.

Felimid mac Fal strode forward and began singing a ballad of the troubles and woes of the Emerald Isle. His words and music wove a tale that brought a tear to the eye of even the most hardened warrior present - blue painted killers were seen looking away, biting their lips. The Forest Dwellers looked at each other and began having whispered discussions amongst themselves. When the song ended, there was a subdued silence, broken only by the occasional sniff and the sound of a warrior munching on a slightly mouldy potato. It seemed for a moment that there would be no battle. The Forest Dwellers certainly seemed unsure what to do next!

Suddenly the Celts of Tir na nOg stirred into action, their infantry line moving forward , their chariots switching from the west to east flanks, the fanatics rushing forward to cover the now open flank and support the main force.

The Celts of Erin responded by moving forward all along the line. Soon arrows and javelins were flying thick and fast, but the warriors on both sides seemed oblivious. To the east there developed a swirling skirmish between the light cavalry of Erin and the light cavalry and chariots of Tir na nOg. This combat lasted almost until nightfall, with the charioteers victorious.

In the centre the Forest Dwellers fired arrows at the Erin battle line and then moved to the flanks, some facing the Erin Rangers, others guarding the Great Tree.

When the battle lines clashed there was indescribable carnage, with both armies losing whole companies at a stroke. The Erin Heavy Chariots joined the fight, while traps delayed the Tir na nOg fanatics. One of these units was shot to pieces by the Erin Rangers while trying to escape the snares and pits that they had fallen foul of.

The battle raged for some time with no clear advantage to either side*. Then a unit of Tir na nOg fanatics got into combat, killing the Bard while chanting strange words - "Sing when your winnin'! You only sing when your winnin'".**

But the Tir na nOg jubilation was short lived. Their general and his warriors became trapped between foot warriors and heavy chariots. They died like heroes, surrounded by the bodies of the fallen.

This finally took the heart out of the surviving Tir na nOgs, and they pulled back to join the Forest Dwellers around the Great Tree. * each army won its own phase until both clocks were on 2! ** English soccer chant. **Results**

This was a Marginal Victory for Erin. Both sides suffered horrific loses, and right to the end it could have gone either way. Great match-up! [16 Feb 99]

Dwarfs vs Orcs/Skaven - Dwarven crossbows became obsessed with destroying a doomwheel, whilst the Goblin Wolfriders just trotted up unhindered and smegged them. Deathmaster snitch had a field day on the cannon crews on the right flank and the Orc/ Skaven hordes score another victory. [14 Feb 99]

Les Danks

High Elves vs Orcs/Gobbos using Fantasy Warriors Destroyed Greenskins piecemeal - using shorter internal lines and a strong central position. [13 Feb 99]
