RECENT BATTLE REPORTS
Chris Remo

I am currently running a map-based Warhammer Fantasy Campaign, with armies from Dwarves, High Elves, Wood Elves, Chaos Dwarves, and Lizardmen. So far: Dwarves: 0-0 High Elves: 2-0 Wood Elves: 2-1 Chaos Dwarves: 0-2 Lizardmen: 1-0 [15 Sep 1999]

Rick Wall

Lizardman vs Orks & Goblins.

This was a 2500 point meeting engagement, including six wizards/shamans who did nothing but dispell each others spells.

he battle started with the gobo wolfriders hitin a unit of skink cold ones and a chariot hiting a unit of saures's.

The saures's took 30% losses but destroyed the carriot/woves and crew. The cold ones and wolfriders tied and continued to battle for the rest of the game(final tally 5 dead cold ones, 9 dead wolfriders withonly the latters chapion left alive.

Two units of skinks and a stegladon attacked (and failed to break)the orks core unit of savage ork boarboys, shaman and general. After three turns of brutal combat only the ork general and the stegladon (the skink riders had all died) were still standing. In the

meantime the Slann general and temple guard attacked and routed a unit of gobo spears and black orks. The last turn ended with the stegladon standing over its dead masters, the ork general mopping up a loan terradon the wolfrider champion was hiding from

the second rampaging Slann. The Slann general was involved in hth with a group of ogres. With 85% of both armies litering the field as casualties the two exausted generals counted up points and the lizardmen won by only 5 points. [03 Jun 1999]

Was at a tournament. I played my dwarfs against an Undead opponent. Took a bound dragon and Ogre Allies. The main combat took place between my General and his hammerers agains his Skeleton Cav with his Vampire General. I was able to 'pin' his cav unit by allowing them to charge a small unit of Slayers. The Slayers tied them up long enough for me to move my big hammerers unit with the general against his. The combat took three bloody turns, but I eventually killed all his skeletons, wights, and wraiths, Caused his Vampire to flee, and to add insult to injury the last remaining slayer, chased him down and killed him in the pursuit. Glorious. My Dragon survived combat against his dragon and my Ogres we're killed by breaking from combat and being overrun themselves. I won the battle convincingly, notwithstanding. [2 May 99]

Started A WFB campaign with a Night Goblin army. Only one magic item COC by default. One unfotunate shamans whoose head keeps blowing up. 5 battles fought. 5 battles one. The NG army is now the biggest in the campaign. Unfortunately only contains 4 character models and one magic item. Mind you having 5 charriots and a pump wagon helps!! [15 Apr 99]

Last fantasy game was a Warhammer version merge of the 2nd and 4th editions. Worked pretty well. The Battle pitted the Orcs and against the High Elves, with the Orcs simply decimating their opponents. They managed to put the three Tiranoc chariots out of action with good maneuvering and use of terrain, and the masses of goblin archers actually took their toll on the Elven archers so that they were whittled down before the main Orc line advanced. Found out that small cheap Goblin groups are great screens, animosity being the one big disadvantage. [13 Apr 99]

Lizardmen vs. Undead

A 1500 pt warhammer rules game were my army was basically annihilated due to an undead spell which caused my level 2 slann to whither and age and die because I rolled a 2 instead of a 3+. It was annoying as I had stored the total power card for my next turn. The rest of my army slowly succumbed to other undead spells. AHHHH !! [10 Apr 99]

My Dwarves shredded a Bretonian army. First by shooting half their army dead with crossbows and organ cannons, and then by chopping them up with a unit of Miners and Iron Breakers.

I can't wait for the Middle Earth Battle System. [6 Apr 99]

Jonathan Meys

I smashed my opponents army into tiny pieces with my 7,300 points huge CHAOS (and all the other COOL bad-guyz) and my opponentS started crying and didn't stop until the next morning. [2 Apr 99]

WFB - 1500 points My Brettonians were decimated by a very crafty lizardman army. My infantry never made contact with the enemy...my archers were scattered by flying dinosaurs...and the knights had a hill dropped on them by the high magus of the lizards. An all-out rout.

WFB is very interesting..but has a couple of problems with it. Two things make the game unbalancing, as I'm sure many people have complained about before. Characters and magic. If both are toned down, it can be a very entertaining game. [2 Apr 99]

I was fighting with my Dwarves vs Lizardmen in Warhammer Fantasy. I gave the saurus units quite a beating with my flame cannon and organ gun and then follow that up with my Slayers and Longbeards. My unit of 12 crossbowmen were attacked and held against a assualt from 5 terradons, they cut my unit down to one man and he eventually won the combat results and drove them off. The Slann mag had Tempest going or some spell which grounded flyers and my lone crossbowmen overran the terradons. He was quickly killed by a unit of saures. THe lizardmen eventually won with their immortal slann mage and the stegadon. [1 Apr 99]

I was playing WHFB using my orcs, who were allied with a lizard man army. We were fighting an allied wood elf/Empire army. each army had 1500 points. I had a unit of Savage Orc boar boy, some Savage orc archers that were skirminshig a unit of night goblins w/2 fantatics, a bolt thrower. I had the left wing of the army. My skirmishers hid my boar boys and my Night goblins had my right flank of the BB. My Boltthrower killeda giant eagle but later died to a general/griffion from the Empire. My whole line went forward. My skirmishers were getting whittled down my WE archers and a treeman smacked into my BB unit. Next round the Empire's griffon/general hit my BB unit and and got killed., I broke the treeman and pursued. Later hitting a crossbow unit and a spear man unit. My ally the lizard man didn't do squat but run away from a steam tank that was chasing him. My orcs pretty much won the battle. [26 Mar 99]

The last game that I played was Warhammer Fantasy. We played a small campaign. I went undefeated the entire campaign.

The reason I like Warhammer so much is because of the awesome citadel minatures that go with the GW hobby. [25 Mar 99]

A quite massive 10000 point warhammer fantasy battle, with only little magic, it was quite enjoyable. Good Guys (Empire, Brettonia, High Elves, Dwarfs) vs. The Bad Guys (Undead, Chaos Warriors, Chaos Beastmen, Orcs, Lizardmen, Skaven, Dark Elves) 2 Players aside me commanding the Empire and the allied command (elfs & dwarfs) according the rules we wonm, but I call it a bloody draw. Strange things happened (whole units rolling 1's, a mere champion with a 25 point magic item defeating a lord character Anyways, curse of the years, proved quite deadly, again, to my unfortunate troops The battle took so long to complete, i think we will be using DBM with some modification next time. Empire Vs. Bretonnia. Empire Cannon's rules the battlefield.

I have only played 2 rulesets. Though Warhammer Fantasy Battle may not be the most realistic(far from it) It is pretty fun, and the miniatures are probably making me extremely biased, though i shouldn't be. [22 Mar 99]

James

Did a Wood Elf versus Goblin army using the Warhammer Fantasy Battles, around 2500 points per side with limited magical items. [17 Mar 99]

Tom Reed

Skaven vs Bretonnians, the Skaven gave their all but unfortunately the Bretonnian knights were too much for them. Should have used more long-range weapons to soften the knights up. [17 Mar 99]

Tony Edwards

It was Warhammer. I used orcs against a mass of Dark Elves. The guy landed a terror causing flying beastie in the middle of my line, and despite the best attempts of my general in screaming at his troops, everyone ran away scared. Hey, it happens. [15 Mar 99]

Robert Paschen

I am afraid my last confrontation found the Great Horned One averting his eyes from Clan Phetid's (my skaven horde) undertakings. As can happen, my warmachines helped me grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. The Empire army I faced also deployed a number of machines, but alas, their's proved more reliable. While my Phetid Clanrats aided by Clan Pestilens Plague Monks (accompanied by Plague Censer Bearers) actually took the center, where they were opposed by a block of Empire stalwarts (mostly halberdiers), I lost my doomwheel engineer to cannon fire and the wheel ran amuck, crippling my brave rats. To add insult to injury, not one but both of my Warpfire Thrower Teams managed to self-destruct. It was a very depressing afair. We fled the field, our fur smouldering from the demise of our equipment. But there's always a next time, and perhaps the dice rolls will be kinder. [15 Mar 99]

Paras Sanghvi

Bretonnians vs. Lizardmen,

i played with the forces from the Warhammer 3rd edition box setsince many of my other figures weren't ready, it ended up being just a shoot out between skink archers and Bretonnain archers the Sauruas and Knights saw almost no action it ended up a undecievie battle more like a draw with the skinks losing 26 archers, and 18 bretonnain archers lost. [13 Mar 99]

I won against some sneaky Wood Elves [27 Feb 99]
