DBF 300 pts on 15.9.99 Undead with Orc allies defeated Lizardmen after killing the Lizardman CinC mounted on Triceratops which had crushed most of the skeleton warband. A close game. [17 Sep 1999] |

My Dwarves vs Elves. HOTTs. 72AP per side. The battle was hard fought. The Elves introduced a God and Aerial Hero early in the game. But the stout dwarves hung on, scaring the God off and slaying the hero. Elf Behemoths proved to be most effective against dwarven Spears. The final fight was between the Elf behemoths and wizard and a cobbled-together line of dwarve crossbows and artillery. The dwarves finally triumphed, driving the last elves from the field. Both sides had suffered extrememly heavy casualties. HOTTs is easily the best of the WRG offerings. It is fun, fast, and adaptable. It lends itself to a wide variety of figures. Besides the more common sword and sorcery fantasy armies, I am aware of a Plains Indian, American Civil War, and British Colonial armies in the local area. A friend is also threatening to make an army from his old Space 1889 figures. [6 Apr 99] |

PLayed Brett. vs. Undead in a campaign battle. was TOTALY destroyed!!! A very common occurance for me with Warhammer. Lost most of my good magice items early in the campaign, and that contribiuted greatly to the result. I must say that although I play mostly Warhammer, it doesn't mean I like the game all that much. Too distructive among other things. [24 Mar 99] |

Dark Elves vs Dwarfs, Dark elves decimated. Should have known better than playing against my wife..... [21 Mar 99] |

It was a Hordes of the Things run-through which was pleasant enough, although too abstract for my taste. I'm more interested in a medieval rules set with a limited magical section that still allows me to fight the non-human armies without the same old factors, and that doesn't rely on buckets of dice or individually based figures. HotT- The hordes of chaos versus the New Kingdom Egytians. The hordes attempted to bog down the Egyptian chariots long enough to swep the enemies auxilia from the field, but failed miserably. The Egyptians quickly over ran thier mild defense and overwhelmed the Mouth of Hell (Chaos camp.) [14 Mar 99] |

In my last game (HOTTs), my dwarves - mostly blades - took on an army based on the troops used in the Sioux Uprising in Minnesota during the ACW (1863), mostly Riders, Shooters, and Artillery, with a Hero General. My dwarves drove the Minnesota volunteers from the field without a loss. HOTTs is a great game. Easy to learn. Easy to prepare terrain and armies for. Easy to expand. And, it's FUN and FAST. A four round tournament can easily be finished in 4-5 hours! [17 Feb 99] |

The forces of Light--Elves met a crusing defeat against the forces of darkness--Orcs. The loos was especiall bad as it was against an 11 year old playing for the first time. Egads I teach to well!! [14 Feb 99] |

Hordes of the Things--Chaos V. Generic Medieval A long ridge split the battle field into two main avenues of approach and the Medieval Knights were able to pound the Chaos Hordes into dust. [14 Feb 99] |

I played a game of Hordes of The Things in 15mm scale at a local gaming mini-convention. As part of a demo-participation game sponsored by my organization called : The Conference Of Wargamers (Winnipeg) COWW It was an Undead vs. Beastmen battle. The Beastmen used their giant hippomen as Artillery to drive off the undead's skeleton giant Behemoths. Then I sent Lt Cavalry Riders (lion-centaurs) to take the undead Stronghold with Birdmen Flyers to assist the seige-raid. The Undead used a Magician and their Hordes to attack, after forming up behind a hill side (to initailly avoid my hippo-artillery). The Flyer Birdmen avoided their winged demon counterparts, and succesfully helped the Lionmen Riders to capture the Undead players Stronghold, thereby winning the game. The WRG Hordes Of The Things rules and 15mm scale armies from ESSEX and Chariot miniatures along with some 15mm RalPartha Battlesystem ones are really quite good. It plays fast, without the detail that constipates other rules eg. magic spells-items or special characters. [12 Feb 99] |

Last game? Hordes of the Things, I had an Elven army and my opponent had an Orc & allies army. I was winning handily (archers rule) when his general killed my general, and my army disintegrated due to lack of command...drat. Last Dwarven game, I stomped a human foot army. My scratchbuilt Dwarven Airboat kept their flanks nicely occupied! I'm going to get Fantasy Rule! 2nd Ed. fairly soon. They look like great rules... [11 Feb 99] |
