RECENT BATTLE REPORTS
Dan Hyman

A horde of demons had been terrorizing a local village, and the humans in the area had all fled. The demons were beginning evil rites to summon their master, when the scene was charged upon by the secretive newt-people of the nearby swamps. It was a medium sized battle using Clan Wars rules and all Warhammer miniatures. [15 Sep 1999]

Well, I've said tons about Clan War already. Why go on and on? It's about as good as it gets (at least until our group gets Demonworld!) [14 Aug 1999]

Was my first game of Clan Wars. Went kinda wierd, but still MUCH better than WHFB. Im getting into the game shortly, and Chronopia as well.. [8 Jul 1999]

A game of Clan War at a local game store. It was a basic game with the units from the boxed set. We each had a unit of unaligned archers and unaligned infantry. I had the Crab Clan personality that comes with the box and my opponnent had the Crane Clan personality. It was a very close game. I lost because of a rash of bad dice rolls with my archers on one turn. I did no damage and the archers were spent for a turn because of the tactics card I played on the unit before they attacked. A very enjoyable game with excellent miniatures. [16 Apr 99]

Interesting battle between Crab and Lion clan forces. The Lion seemed to have made an initial mistake with placement of their yari (spear) unit, as it was way out on a flank and away from the main battle. The Crab placed their heavy infantry unit supported by archers on the hill behind, facing the Lion heavy infantry. The Crab put a unit of yari men in pursuit of the lion, and as the lion were trying to move toward the heavy infantry units, a fleet footed Crab were closing on them from behind and managed to charge them in the rear. The Lion held together, managed to turn to face their attackers, and used the strength of their superior formation to push the Crab spearmen back. Unfortunately, their nerve broke and they headed for the reaar and were cut down by the Crab spears. When the Lion Heavies managed to destroy in detial the Crab Heavy Infantry, they were facing heavy fire for two turns from the Crab archers before they could engage and their own archers had quite the field. A fun, well balanced battle that came down to placement and tactics, plus a bit of lucky rolling :) [29 Mar 99]

A great game of ClanWar. The upper hand in this

battle moved back and forth as tactic and counter tactics were played, and ended in a (slight) loss for my forces.

The great thing about ClanWar is that the playing matters, the game isn't decided by the time you finish picking your forces. Fantasy for grown-ups. [26 Mar 99]

Ken Carpenter

My Dragon army slaughtered a hapless Crab army. The Ise Zumi led the attack by flying across the field to engage and destroy the only Crab archer unit. [24 Mar 99]

Mark Langsdorf

Played Clan War - 1500 koku, Shadowlands (me) vs. Dragon.

I made a bunch of mistakes, that almost cost me the battle, except my Goblin Chuckers had managed to overrun both his archer units, and the scores ending up tying. [23 Mar 99]

I run Demos for Clan War at conventions and game stores - while you don't get much in-depth strategy out of a demo, you do get some amusing demonstrations. The best was the last survivor of a Heavy Infantry until that was left facing a full unit of Medium Infantry - in true Samurai style, he proceded to hold out and nearly wipe out the entire opposing unit before they finally killed him. We've started playing Clan War, which I only bought three weeks ago. We loved it, but aren't into it yet as painting Samurai armor can take time. :) Lots of good things about this system. Soon I will order the historical ruleset put out by, and to be used with, Two Dragons figures (which I also own). [17 Mar 99]

Skaven vs dwarves. Warhammer scenario the Skaven won [17 Mar 99]

Played a 2000 koku game of Clan War in a touranment and took 1st Place. An important factor in my vicotry was superior manueverability and that I was able to flank my opponent, denying him rank bonuses and giving my flankers "to hint" bonuses. [14 Mar 99]

Im a GM. Last major battle was with a PC named Eric in Sigil {planscape}.He had joined a small of nommads in Arcadia. They happened to meet a group of orcs and slaughtered them all.The tribe hearing of this sent aa army of 800 orcs , who won the battle over the PC and freinds with heavy casualties [13 Mar 99]

Ken Redington

It was a simple Lion clan VS Dragon Clan 1500 Koku fight. We were both playing Clan Wars for the first time. We both found the movemet and turn system to be more enjoyable than the I go-You go movement system of other games [9 Mar 99]

Clan War battle -- combined Lion/Crane army against a Shadowlands force, with a river running down the center of the board. Shadowlands deployed on both sides of the river while the samurai deployed on the west side of the river. To get to the samurai, at least half the Shadowlands troops had to cross the river, which was interdicted with bow fire from the Crane archers. An unaligned cavalry unit crossed the river in the other direction and mopped up the remnants of the Shadowlands force on that side. Then the whole army descended on the Shadowlands right wing and crushed it, including a void dragon. [19 Feb 99]

Mario "oni no Maio" Cerame

It was an exciting game, though I bested by dragon opponent with a well times test of might that crushed his oger bushi. The rest of the ogres lost their impetus, and he poorly times an engagement on the flank, allowing me to best his flanking force.

THIS IS A GREAT GAME! THIS IS THE BEST MINIATURE GAME I HAVE PLAYED YET! [18 Feb 99]

Boyd Kleen

My Phoenix Ranged attack army lost on points after 8 turns to a Crane Tactician/Dueling deck. We were playtesting some new units. I killed many more of his rank and file troops, but he managed to keep them from breaking long enough to get into hand to hand and kill 3 of my leaders. [18 Feb 99]

Stuart Leddy

I got absolutely destroyed in two turns fighting Lion Clan against the Crab Clan in a Clan War game against one of my freinds and customers. Some horrendous dice rolling on my part, as well as really bad tactical decisions, combined with Rob's amazing dice rolling had my army broken in two turns, at which point I conceded victory to the Crab. [17 Feb 99]

George S. Pantelis

2000 pts., Phoenix vs.Unicorn. Open valley with forests on either side. My forces were a pike block screening dual archery units and house gaurd infront, next to a medium cav. Swept across the feild with cav and pinned down his hvy cav. while my archers pelted his groud troops. he charged his house gaurd into my pike block and my elites flanked his hvy cav. after destroying them, they swept into his archers. his house gaurd took losses, but routed my pikes. my archers finished him off. adding spells on my part, I won,

if you like the period, Clan War is well worth the price. Get everything you need in one box. The supplements, while not necessary are well worth the price as well. This is a keeper. :) [17 Feb 99]

Paul Rocchi

Demonstration game at Pandemonium. Crab elite army versus hordes of Phoenix, Dragon clan - mostly archers.

I found out that the toughness of the troops makes less of a difference than the sheer volume of missile fire. [17 Feb 99]
