RECENT BATTLE REPORTS
Chris Remo

I am currently running a map-based Warhammer Fantasy Campaign, with armies from Dwarves, High Elves, Wood Elves, Chaos Dwarves, and Lizardmen. So far: Dwarves: 0-0 High Elves: 2-0 Wood Elves: 2-1 Chaos Dwarves: 0-2 Lizardmen: 1-0 [15 Sep 1999]

Rick Wall

Lizardman vs Orks & Goblins.

This was a 2500 point meeting engagement, including six wizards/shamans who did nothing but dispell each others spells.

he battle started with the gobo wolfriders hitin a unit of skink cold ones and a chariot hiting a unit of saures's.

The saures's took 30% losses but destroyed the carriot/woves and crew. The cold ones and wolfriders tied and continued to battle for the rest of the game(final tally 5 dead cold ones, 9 dead wolfriders withonly the latters chapion left alive.

Two units of skinks and a stegladon attacked (and failed to break)the orks core unit of savage ork boarboys, shaman and general. After three turns of brutal combat only the ork general and the stegladon (the skink riders had all died) were still standing. In the

meantime the Slann general and temple guard attacked and routed a unit of gobo spears and black orks. The last turn ended with the stegladon standing over its dead masters, the ork general mopping up a loan terradon the wolfrider champion was hiding from

the second rampaging Slann. The Slann general was involved in hth with a group of ogres. With 85% of both armies litering the field as casualties the two exausted generals counted up points and the lizardmen won by only 5 points. [03 Jun 1999]

Jason Schmidt

A simple meeting engagement using AoA, Orcs vs. Dwarves. The Orcs came on strong on the right flank with Wolfriders easily slicing through the unlucky xbows facing them. The center was much nicer for the Dwarves; the two-axe troops made mincemeat of the orc spears sent to try and take them. Left flank was a muddle; some Orc big-uns tangled with the elite Dwarves on bears and tigers and neither seemed to be making headway. The game ended quickly when the cursed Wolfriders (may they thrice be damned) managed to take the terrain objective the Orcs were after (mineshaft) and then on the next turn kill the Dwarven general. Uhh...is that enough? [10 May 99]

Last fantasy game was a Warhammer version merge of the 2nd and 4th editions. Worked pretty well. The Battle pitted the Orcs and against the High Elves, with the Orcs simply decimating their opponents. They managed to put the three Tiranoc chariots out of action with good maneuvering and use of terrain, and the masses of goblin archers actually took their toll on the Elven archers so that they were whittled down before the main Orc line advanced. Found out that small cheap Goblin groups are great screens, animosity being the one big disadvantage. [13 Apr 99]

Orks v. Elves using Battlesystem - after 4 moves Elves won. [24 Mar 99]

My Dragon army slaughtered a hapless Crab army. The Ise Zumi led the attack by flying across the field to engage and destroy the only Crab archer unit. [24 Mar 99]

15mm Fantasy Rules! clash between Chipco's Lizard Man army pack and some Essex Normans. This game plays exceptionally well in 15mm, with lots of room to maneuver and plenty of troop types on the table. Fast, fun. DBA players interested in fantasy should give it a look. [18 Mar 99]

My last fantasy massed-combat game was played in a Knights and Magick campaign that my friends and I have been running. My human army

was laid siege to by an army of dwarves. All I had to hide behind was a keep and some palisades so I came out to fight. Unfortunately

I was slaughtered and the dwarves not hold the area on the map. I am now amassing a huge army to in my neighboring areas to retake the along with the territory. [17 Mar 99]

James

Did a Wood Elf versus Goblin army using the Warhammer Fantasy Battles, around 2500 points per side with limited magical items. [17 Mar 99]

Ken Peters

Last game I played was 4th Edition WHFB - Elves (me) vs Goblins (friend). First and LAST game of WHFB. 4th edition and later killed that game. [15 Mar 99]

Ancestral Hamster

Played a 2000 koku game of Clan War in a touranment and took 1st Place. An important factor in my vicotry was superior manueverability and that I was able to flank my opponent, denying him rank bonuses and giving my flankers "to hint" bonuses. [14 Mar 99]

Our last event involved a large Human army encroaching into the realm of the Dwarven King. Outnumbered but occupying defensive terrain, the Dwarves started out well, their artillery and missile troops wrecking havoc. But when their colossus rain out of control, and the pikemen of the Human army closed in, the Dwarves were put to rout and the day belonged to Men of the Valley. [26 Feb 99]

Jim Callahan

it was a lion vs dragon battle set in a mountain pass. Lion had 4 objectives to fullfill, with deployment on 2 sides of the board. Dragon had smaller units than Lion and deployed from 3 different areas on the board to simulate the Lion invading the Dragon lands. It turned out being a complete bloodbath with the Dragon clan using skirmish archers, and tattooed men (ise zumi) to break the lion house guard and akodo death seekers. Both sides took heavy casualities but in the end the Dragon unit stood fast and won the day. [17 Feb 99]
