Does Chariot rampant significantly improve the rules for chariot warfare? It seems to me Lion Rampant would work well as it is (just have each chariot count as 2 horsemen).

I have Egyptians and Libyans. I was just going to call the chariots elite yeoman cavalry, and the Libyans foot yeoman with mixed weapons.

Love lion Rampant but not sure why you would use it for any other period of wars? It's for medieval war and has the right unit types for that.

I don't know chariot Rampant even so. Is it Osprey blue book?

Chariot Rampant is an expansion featured in WSS #82 that has quite caught on in popularity.

Chariot Rampant has other things, like chariots being able to skirmish, and adjusted boasts suitable for the biblical era.
Having said that, we didn't find the system very satisfactory for chariot warfare.
We ended up using Saga with some custom battle boards instead.

Ney Ney – there are several versions of the Lion Rampant rules (some by the author) that have been tweaked for different periods and work a treat. If you like LR, they are well worth checking out.

Dexter – what did you do for custom battle boards for Saga? I've been wondering about doing something similar. I'm busy painting Sumerians for Chariots Rampant, but I find that it's easy to re-use LR retinues for Saga warbands.
