Guys, can anyone steer me to a DBA clone or variant in which a block of pikes with two sleeves of shot is a single element instead of three? I know I've seen such, but of course they're not surfacing now when they're needed, and it's hard doing a "proper" battle otherwise.

Thanks.

Humberside extensions – 1500-1900 ? DBA-HX

Now, I think, split into 1500-1700 & 1700-1900. One, at least, is done a la DBA3.

Now to be found on Fanaticus

Hi

If you have a look at the Humberside Extensions, this could be what you're after (the Shot troop type is "either alone, bordering, or integrated with, pikes"):-

Robert,

The variant has been upgraded for use with DBA3.

The link will take you to a recent engagement using the combination of pike and shot on the same base.

This variant now inlcudes the period 1670 – 1700 with additional army lists.

Send an email note (timurilank (at) aol (dot) com) with DBA-HX 1670 – 1700 in the subject line and I can email you a copy.

Cheers,
Robert

Robert:

Thanks for taking the effort to upgrade DBA-HX to DBA 3.0 standards.

I did the same for HOTT and it has really helped unify the DBX community locally.

Cheers Thomas,

There are still blocks of time not covered by this variant, but those hopefully will be taken care of in the near future by others.

I am of the opinion that Tony will cover the period 1500 – 1700 with an eventual upgrade of DBR-RRR and Phil's own Horse, Foot and Guns handles the massed armies of 1850 to 1900 nicely.

Rather than duplicate effort, I am focusing on a flexible campaign system for use with DBA-HX3.

I have been tinkering with the concept of the single stand pike and shot unit for a while; one of the ideas I liked best was to adapt the war wagon type to the pike and shot role. The front edge is 2 BW wide; shooting factor of 3 or 4 and combat factor of 4 against all troop types; may initiate combat; quick killed by artillery, warband, and knights; when attacked frontally by a single unit 1 BW wide, that unit counts as overlapped.

The also allows you to model a unit which has some semblence to a pike and shot unit.

Cheers,
Dave
