Dr. Brendan Moyle has released the first draft of a new set of free wargames rules for the crusades. They have what looks like a nice iniatiative/activation system that breaks the igo-ugo mold. Shattered Lances: Wargaming in the Age of the Crusades. link Hope you enjoy! Amicalement

In other news, WRG 6th edition Ancient rules will be going to the printer. It promises to be the "most heavily and completely play-tested set of Ancient rules EVER." |

I once played them, over ten years ago, at a SOA games day with the author not sure they really offered anything better than WRG 7th edition and had some odd mechanisms like recovering from almost routed to full strength in the turn the damage was suffered.Never caught on with my gaming group. |
