I have just sent off my first supplement for Day of Battle to my editor to be printed (On Military Matters). I will post a picture of the cover soon but wanted to mention that it is done and gone, phew.

This book includes
48 pages, color covers, black and white inside. Same format as the rule book.
15 new Domains: Covering the Normans in Europe and Italy along with most of their friends and foes.
"Dynasty¨, a new area movement campaign for 1 to 5 players. Dynasty is a great solo game as well. This is a fast paced game to generate miniature battles. It comes with three maps so players can choose where they want to play. England circa 1066 AD. France circa 1050 AD and Italy circa 1050AD.

Makes me want to check out the game. And glad to see the inclusion of Italy.

One question. Assuming similarly based armies, how flexible is the system about basing if the frontages are roughly equivalent to those prescribed?

Thanks for the link correction. I edited in word for spelling and it dumped some symtax in the code.

DoB basing is the same as for Impetus which is really 4 WRG.DBx stands lined up two by two. There is a section on the first page of the website with some insights and check out the videos I have a litle one on the subject.

Units – The Building Blocks of any Game
Units are made up of the equivalent of 4 DBx size bases arranged 2 x 2 and representing 200 to 400 men. Bases use the English mounting system which is 60mm wide for 25mm scale and 40mm wide for 15mm scale. A unit therfore has a frontage of either 120mm or 80mm. Depths are proportional but not overly important. For 25mm scale depths range from 30mm for open order units to 80mm for mounted units. For 15mm scale depths range from 20mm to 60mm.

Not that ANY army is ever really finished, mind you, but I've made a commitment to finishing up SOME of the lead pile before I refresh it with new units and rules.

I just finished up a Norman – Italian army for Fall In and am nearly done the matching Byzantine army to fight them at Durazzo.

My editor Jim has convinced me to do Spain next so I will shoot for Cold Wars :)

Working on some Wars of the Roses figures currently, and for those interested, this late medieval/early renaissance era is covered in the main rules book.

Hoping to eventually do a Communal Italian army for the Norman time period. Both that, and a Papal army list, are included in the new supplement.

Looking forward to seeing what "Dynasty" is like, and the maps associated with it.

I will have the maps up maybe today. I plan on blowing them up and having them at Fall In. I may even offer them that way as well. I also plan on running Dynasty at the convention at my booth som stop by and look. No. 62 I think, right next to Aide de Camp Books.

Ok my spring release for Cold Wars 2013 will be called "Crusader Wars". It will include Spain, The Crusades (1-5), The Albigensian Crusade and the Baltic Crusade.

It will have 4 or 5 maps and at lease 15 more Domains. I am allready working on it.

I was only at Fall-In on Saturday. Didn't end up in the dealers area until the very end of the day. Was so busy trying to get around with little time available, didn't stop to pick up a copy of Normand Conquests. But I'll be buying a copy asap.

Picked up one each of the Perry sets of metal billmen and archers walking while at Fall-In. Hoping to do some more painting of the WotR figures this weekend.

Plus I found a source for some figures that might work for a Communal Italian army to use with that new domain in the Norman Conquest supplement, but I can't recall, and don't have the name of the company in front of me at the moment. I'm actually fairly excited about how they look, and want to order some of them relatively soon.

I recall bumping into you someplace there ;) I would like to know what figures you are talking about. WOTR is going to be fun with DoB. Do you think we need some sort of treachery rule for the period flavor?

I was buying some medium to tall trees across the way from your booth at Battlefield Terrain Concepts; they got some good stuff! I waved as you had a couple folks chatting with you at the time.

Not sure how treachery rules might work with Day of Battle. Besides, sometimes it might be a bit over reflected, but I'll give it some thought.

Feeling stupid, but it seems where I wrote down that company's name has been misplaced. Think their affliated with another outfit, and now I'm even spacing that one. Bah!

Curteys Miniatures. They are affiliated with 1st Corp and Kingmaker, which I'd come across previously, but somehow only recently came across Curtey's.

The figures are located underneath the heading "Feudal Medieval Europe" on the left hand side of the link provided below. Once clicking into that, then they've got several other links to click, including "13th Century Infantry" and "13th Century Knights".

I've begun matching up their selection with some of the catagories for the Italian Communal domain list featured in the "Norman Conquests" supplement for "Day of Battle".

Very nice figures indeed though they have a feel for the old Falcon Mini Line not that that is a bad thing.

Looked up Falcon Miniatures. Do you mean the line that makes the pewter ones?

They haven't seemed to have a recent update on their site. And they seemingly don't have many photos. Or perhaps my computer's browser just isn't picking up on them for some reason.

From what little I saw there, and I didn't see any feudal medieval, I like Curtey's style more.

I am not sure if they are still around. The owner died quite a few years ago. Keith Astrofsty was running it and came to alot of the shows but he to has dissapeared. I don't know if he has a website now. And yes these do look much better I only menat I saw a similarity in some of the poses and I meant that in a good way.

I found the site, looks like it has been dormant for some time.

Giving some consideration to making an army deal purchase from Curtey's for use with the Day of Battle rules, specifically for the Italian Communal domain list that has been provided in the Normand Conquests supplement, but need to ask them some questions first , perhaps via email.

There was also an article on the military for the Italian communal city of Crema in Dadi and Piombo's magazine, issue #42, Summer 2010. Back before that publication stopped printing in English, and now only in Italian. That article is one of the reasons why I've become interested in Italian Communal armies, and it's good to have such a domain list included for Day of Battle's supplement on the Norman Conquests.
