I've used FoG for several years with Bronze Age & Punic armies. I've bought the Renaissance book & am keen to expand into this period. A question: I really want to add command figs to the infantry; officers, musicians maybe 2 ensigns. I know they can be added to the other bases (the pike, I gather) but I think this won't look as well. Could each infantry regiment also have a command stand base (60 X 30 : standard size) for these figures? They'd be for show only, no combat value…..or maybe we could add a house morale rule? |

I don't see why not, provided it is clear that the base is a marker and that your opponent is aware. Maybe trapezoid rather than rectangular. If you end up in melee combat, the command marker base can be moved behind as is the case with regimental gun markers. |

I like the Idea of a house moral rule. x42 |

I like the Idea of a house moral rule. I know you have to be careful with game balance but maybe have fewer generals & allow the command stand of a unit to function as one FOR THAT UNIT ONLY.
It would have all the factors associated with command & , as they're permanently attached, die like flies in melee. What do you think? |

Ochoin – we used a house rule along those lines for a friendly refight of Brunanburgh a few weeks ago with a few units who had "warlords" attached. They acted as a TC-equivalent for that unit but no other. They also had to fight in the front rank in melee (as did the normal commanders); however their death in melee only caused morale tests for the unit they were attached to. |

Why would you be thinking about adding house rules before even playing the game? Why not just include a base in each unit with command figures on? No need for house rules to reflect this. |

before even playing the game? but…. I've used FoG for several years A full set of command figures for each Foot regiment would look nice. For me, it's also about the look of a game. Different rules but don't the round bases look better: link |

Why not just put the command figures on one of the stands which make up the unit? That way you get the looks and don't need a house rule It's certainly what I do |
