Work isn't progressing as quickly as I'd hoped on this project, but I've got a quick update to share. First up, the Ultramarines and Word Bearers have each been reinforced with a Rhino APC:
The side doors have the Legion icons, and the tops display Legion-specific Heresy-era Tactical/Support icons ("Imperial Recognition Symbols", White Dwarf 117):
Technically the crescent is a Sons of Horus icon rather than Word Bearers, but as the Sons' icons were based on Chaos symbols I figured they'd be good for Word Bearers. Finally, I've got my first couple of Eldar additions, an Avenging Warrior and a Vampire-class Spirit Warrior:

I just noticed these photos have pretty much destroyed all the highlighting I did
I need to figure out my camera/lighting situation. |

Suffer no xeno to live! Very neat steady painting too.

Tell that to the orks on my painting table. Ach, I'm really unhappy with these photos
I do know how to shade and highlight, honestly, and the tanks aren't dayglow-bright in real life. I might try to replace the pics with better ones

What bases did you use for the rhinos? |

Well, I tried taking another batch of photos and they didn't turn out much better. Basically I suck. I think I'll leave any future photography to battle reports and ditch the gallery-style attempts.
What bases did you use for the rhinos? Flames of War small-sized bases. I'm going to be basing all of my regular tanks on those, with super-heavies on medium FoW bases. The walkers and light vehicles (like the one above) will all be based on converted extra-small bases – i.e. small FoW bases with a 15mm strip cut out from the middle and the sides reattached. |

Parmenion – it looks really, really good, regardless of what is happening with the lighting. I try and try when taking pictures of my figures, and generally screw up the lighting too. I look forward to some FUBAR reports. FUBAR is a ton of fun, and I think you will really enjoy it. Those classic Epic infantry models are amazing. |

Thanks Greg. I need to get some more terrain painted up before I can get a good looking batrep done, but I might try some practice games with unpainted scenery. |

You should, I practiced with bits of paper and blu-tac! |

FUBAR is fun, played for the first time a few days ago and really enjoyed it. Those look pretty good to me, never mind the light. More FUBAR please! Bits of paper and blu-rac, you have come a long way. |
