First off a bit of fluff, just to remind you of the type of setting for my games.

The story so far…..Bio-Tec Industries are still unhappy about the newly arrived military enforcement team (SABRE).
So, they get their hired merc's (ExSol), give them some newly spawned Munchers and tell them to do something about SABRE.
So, they set up an ambush. They attack a small scientific outpost, kidnap and murder the occupants. And send out a distress call, knowing SABRE will come to the rescue. Then they will have them right where they want them.

They set up 2 areas of ambush, the first they disabled one of the scientists MTV and hide in the rocks further down. Knowing a SABRE team will come to investigate. The other, they loaded one of the outpost cargo containers with Munchers. Then when a squad comes to check out the outpost the electric lock disengages and out spill the contents.

001 The game table.

Top left, AT gun enters and the extraction Caine Toad APC.

Top right, one of the scientists wracked MTV. With the ExSol merc's squad hiding in the rocky cover to the South.

Centre, the scientist's outpost.

Bottom left, where the SABRE Ramjacks enter.

002 Deimos squad check out the wracked MTV. But Major Winters is suspicious, it looks like it's been hit with an AT weapon.
Meanwhile being watched by the ExSol guys, they hold their fire ready for the optimum moment.
It's at this point that I roll for the initiative. If SABRE win then they realise the danger, see the ExSol squad and have the chance to shoot first. If not, then they're caught out in the open totally unaware.

003 Europa squad reached the outpost and check out the MTV which has crashed into the outpost.
Again, it's at this point that if the Munchers come out of the containers. Who gets the initiative at this point gets the chance to make that all important first attack.

004 The initiative dice are rolled, ExSol win and activate their merc squad. With 2 hvy weapons they get off to a good start. The first shot from the rocket launcher destroys the Ramjack out right. Then 3 SABRE squad members go down. The 2 that are left shake off the suppression and duck behind the wracked MTV for cover. But ExSol have thought of that. The remote AT gun, which as failed all its activations until now has finally made it to into range.
Seeing the danger, the 2 SABRE squad members have no choice but to break cover. Move closer and disable the AT gun.

005 Meanwhile, things don't go too well for the HARD squad. They get stuck into the Munchers but lose 3 team members in the melee. While the Munchers only lose one, now outnumbered 2to1.

SABRE is being slaughtered. Then on a complete change of dice they get the luck. The 2 HARD squad members kill the 4 Munchers. Must have been ravage for their lost comrades. Europa's Ramjack moves to replace Deimos's destroyed RJ and gives covering fire. The 2 Deimos members, with their rocket and the Ramjacks HMG drop some of the ExSol guys, who until now have been having it all their own way.

They realise the turn of fortune and call in their Toad APC for extraction. By the time the APC reaches them there is only one merc left. The remains of both Europa and Deimos squads move to stop the Toad from escaping. They manage to disable it before it reaches their extraction at the end of the table and capture the 1 remaining merc for some vital intel.

oooooh plot thickens.

I do like the Mars playing surface, it is pretty much what I think of a terraformed Mars would be like.

I am liking the grenade building too, they are such a good idea.
Thanks to the man from TMP!

Glad the Munchers got squished, nasty critters them!

Excellent AAR! I really like the blue tank with big wheels, it looks familiar but can't place it at the moment. I do like the table and builds.
Look firward to seeing more of Mars.

Thanks for sharing!

Hard cheese for the captured merc – payback is a bitch!

Nice looking AAR, especially the terrain

That pretty much happened by sheer fluke. I was after some reddy/brown sort of sand. Saw a 25kg bag which kinda looked about right in the builders merchants.

Thanks to the man from TMP!

What you; do you mean?

Yep, it's the Hoplite I think.

I nicked the grenade building idea from a chap on TMP.

Is that some sort of toy that's been modified into a building? Or was that a bit of sculpting?

It has a really cool sci-fi Quonset hut vibe to it. I can totally see it as a pre-fab kit that was tossed into the hold of a spaceship and shipped to Mars to be tossed together in the field by colonists. I might have to get a few for myself!

It is a party favour chopped in half…

Why do I get the feeling that there's going to be a mad rush to Toys R Us.

That was my thinking. Michael was kind enough to give me 2 of these little toys. So I might try and knock up another, with a bit more time spent on it this time.

Michael's is very good, done with his usual care and skill. Mine on the other hand was done with my usual "get it done as quickly as possible attitude".

Nice, short & sharp action! Great looking terrain and figures. Thanks for posting.
