Im intrigued by what Im seeing in the basic FUBAR Rules on the net and some of the spin-off genre rules but they are a pretty cluttered mess, sometimes contradicting each other or presenting new mechanics that aren't explained clearly. Ive tried to join both the Yahoo Group and Forum but have heard nothing in reply other than a "unable to send mail" error. Anyone know anything about this system? Got a link to a site where I could ask some questions? |

Let me clarify the rules are great, but everybody having their own version out there is a bit confusing. |

The Yahoo group Forge Of War is not so active lately. PM me with your email address and we can communicate further. Several of the other group members are active here on TMP so I'm sure all your questions will be answered. -Edgar |

I've played FUBAR a few times (original rules) and FUBAR Star Wars
I liked them both. Very simple and flows pretty fast
I do want to try out the Horror version as well

Some of the variants mention Template attacks. Is every figure/vehicle within the template attacked with the total FP of the weapon or is the FP divided up? Mortar attack FP4, template encompasses 3 members of an 8-man squad. Do each of the 3 take a 4FP attack or do each take 1FP and the additional FP assigned randomly? Seems, if the latter, that having more guys close together is safer, which is completely counter to real tactics. |

Just as a comment, in case anyone really is reading this: I elected to address the ever-annoying Activation hassle with a simple rule variation. Units failing to activate get to choose between 3 "Cautious" actions. Snap Fire (at -1), A half move, or go on Overwatch. This keeps the game going a bit more and takes away some of that frustration when your troops wont respond at all. Units that do Activate, are considered motivated and act normally. I also use the Armor Penetration rules by the way. |

Re: Templates
If you're using templates then one FP per model under the template. FUBAR does not normally use templates and the FP is how many shots a weapon fires at a unit. But FUBAR is a set of tools and there is no "wrong" way to play it. Mod as you see fit. I've used platoon leaders and give units +1 to Activation rolls if they're within six inches, until he becomes a casualty. I'll likely be using card based activations for the game I'm running in a couple of weeks at HAVOC XXX in Shrewsbury MASS. But I like the FUBARs activation as it can represent fog of war, loss of morale, etc
