Anyone know of a good web resource for WRG Ancients (6th or otherwise) scenarios ? One of the main complaints about WRG Ancients was that they were aimed at tournament players, so in effect were just an endless series of equal points matches effectively doing little more than play test the points system (I exaggerate – but only a little).

So, any good scenarios with unbalanced armies out there ?

Deploy one army in marching column; second army is half the size/value and attacks from both flanks. Victory conditions vary, but are easy to generate: disorder the enemy, force a retreat, etc. Each side can have different victory conditions.

This isn't specific to WRG 6th, I think it is an ideal Ancients/Medieval scenario.

Pick two forces. Divide a rectangular table in half with an impenetrable river with a bridge in the middle. One force is A, the other B. Corners are 1,2,3,4. Start the forces as follows: (Give A1 some relic or something to protect and get off the table at A4).

A1……………………………………….B2
3/4 cavalry from A……………….1/3 cavalry from B
1/4 infantry from A………………2/3 infantry from B

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx bridge xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

B3………………………………………A4
2/3 cavalry from B……………….1/4 cavalry from A
1/3 infantry from B………………3/4 infantry from A

A1 has to exit table at A4, only way across the XXX is the bridge so everyone has secure flanks. A4 will try and help A1 escape. B3 and B2 will try and destroy A.

Played it last night with A as Crusaders and B as Saracens (the river was shifting sand with a pass in the middle, no cover anywhere on the table). A1 70% losses, A4 50%, B1 destroyed, B2 40% losses. A1 had a holy relic so A won as they got it off the table….just

We use our own rules but its there to try if you want,

cheers
Jon.

I would think that CS Grant's "Programmed Scenarios" would work very well for this.

True it does – was looking for other ideas as well !

Although – now you've reminded me, I really ought to dig out the Table Top Teasers from Battle / Mil Mod.
