What the Bleeped text?

Every time this place seems to be making a little sense, I discover something like this?

So why don't 40k, D&D, Full Thrust, FOW, A&A Minis, DBA, HOTT and a hundred other very popular gaming systems have their own boards? How does this rate?

What's more, Bill scuttles the Industry board (one of the main things TMPers love to discuss) but we have a board devoted to one relatively obscure system? An', yes fellas, compared to some of the games I just named, it is a guppy.

Sysiphus12 Feb 2011 10:09 a.m. PST

Yes, but do the others you mention use as much aspirin in the playing?

I think board choice is partly controlled by influences from the pain-relief cartels.

Lord of the Sock Puppets12 Feb 2011 10:20 a.m. PST

[Shrugs with a look of complete bewliderment] The only thing that could make any sense would be that somebody gave Bill money, and if this was a new system, I could believe that, but aren't they at least up to 7th edition?

Maybe it was the analgesic industry, after all.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut12 Feb 2011 10:36 a.m. PST

It was determined by popular minority vote, the poll garnered the necessary 30 votes to establish the new board.

Look back over the last couple of months of postings in polls , poll suggestions and wargaming in general and you might understand.

All those other boards you want will be along soon, just need the polls to run.

Lord of the Sock Puppets12 Feb 2011 11:29 a.m. PST

Who said I wanted them? I think the idea is pretty silly.

Incorrect.

What occurred was all the other "industry" boards were put back all in one place on the pre-existing The Industry Board. That shouldn't stop people from creating the topics they want to create, or participate in. But now someone who wants to read or discuss "The Industry" doesn't have to hit 4 separate boards to do so.

Who said I wanted them? I think the idea is pretty silly.

If you'd like to retrograde to the last known good install of TMP, then wait until there's statistical/reasonable justification to propose removing the extraneous boards and suggest a poll, because that seems to be how things work here regardless.

Anything less than 10 topics/month would be the low hanging fruit.

It was rather implied, I thought, by your bemoaning their absence, whilst WRG 6th does have a board, viz :

So why don't 40k, D&D, Full Thrust, FOW, A&A Minis, DBA, HOTT and a hundred other very popular gaming systems have their own boards?

the Editor "What's more, Bill scuttles the Industry board (one of the main things TMPers love to discuss)… Au contraire… TMP link"

Well, my mistake. However, in my defense, I went searching for an old post of mine by title, and ir came back under "Board not Found" or something similar.

Two points though:

1. Why is it alphabetically under "The Industry Board" rather than "Industry Board." That is confusing.

2. A WRG 6th board is still dumb. Can we have a Candyland board?

@Goldwyrm

Good job of piling on there. Have you considered work as a sycophant in the Egyptian government? evil grin

(just kidding, I see your post came up a minute later, so it was probably being typed at the same time).

@20thmaine

Gotta work hard to catch that sarcasm, dude. wink

Well yes, kyoteblue, I see your point.

Sorry.

The Candyland Board is available as part of the Candyland Boxed Game, available at most retailers of children's toys.

Does this include rules for the candy man, and is it true that he can ?

Mehoy Nehoy24 Mar 2011 3:24 p.m. PST

I believe so – because If anyone can, the candy man can.

Grand Duke Natokina24 Mar 2011 11:56 p.m. PST

What is WRG, in any of its 6 incarnations?
Weaselhoffen.

Old Bear25 Mar 2011 2:52 a.m. PST

Oh, don't be coy, GDN. Everybody in wargaming knows the works of the venerable Phil Barker!

Tick another box and then as far as I know it does not exist.

I find it hard to beleive that anyone can have been gaming for more than a few months nd have neve come across the works of PB or WRG.

Shows how out of touch I am, I suppose. The world moves on, and those who got this all started get forgotten.
