Which tournament has th largest number of competitors ? Just curious. |
Goose666 | 21 Dec 2011 5:05 a.m. PST |
The WRG are the largest and have been since I have been going/involved in the last four or so years. The next largest has varied some years between Flames of War and Warhammer Fantasy. Numbers have fluctuated a bit, with the down turn. The clubs main intention is to make it a fun and friendly atmosphere were folks can compete and game over a weekend. Broughton is a fairly easy place to get too, though I think some folks might not realise quite how easy it actually is. |

The Gauntlet venue is great, well light, spacious and the main emphasis is on gaming. Free parking and a Social club bar so low prices on food and beer :-) The idea for the convention which started back in 2004 was purely for free gaming – you pay your entrance fee and game all day – 12 to 14 hours on a Saturday! Another big plus is that it is on an Aiorbus UK site so there is 24 hour security, games can be set up for the whole weekend. Give it a try as I used to come across from Hamburg for the weekend before I moved to Canada. Cheers, Graham W |

Hi Graham, Good to hear from you. Hope canada is keeping you entertained. We are even looking at the possibility of a 24hr game, over the weekend, for charity. Its an idea Len is exploring as a possibility. John Gauntlet Latest can be found here; deesidedefenders.co.uk and on the forum here; link |

Update: There will be a Flames of War tournament this year. The current proposed format is; Mid War – 1500pts – 1 Day tourny on the Saturday. We aim to have prizes for first, second and third placed players. On the sunday, there is the option to utilise the tables for a BIG Game of FOW. Or a mini campaigne or just have a days gaming. The tournament entre fee covers participants for both days. |
Goose666 | 16 Mar 2012 6:33 a.m. PST |
We are currently exploring options for a 40k tournament as well. This is likley to be a one day event, unless we get strong demand to have it as a two day tournament. More details to follow. |
Marshal Mark | 22 May 2012 9:44 a.m. PST |
Are there going to be tables available for people to turn up and play ? |
Goose666 | 22 May 2012 1:12 p.m. PST |
@Marshal Mark, We always try and ensure there are a couple of spare tables setup for folks to turn up and play. So yes. :) The focus of Gauntlet is on playing, unlike other shows etc. So yes, if you know what you fancy playing, i can always ask through the club forum or yahoo group and see if there are anytakers to allow you a bit of forward planning. I appologise but the website has gotten a bit out of date and I will be updating the Gauntlet Page this week. We now have confirmed the FOW Tournament and a 40K tournament. Look at being 1day each as that is the preference from those who have shown interest todate. Sat for the FOW and Sunday for the 40k as it currently sits. |
Goose666 | 11 Jun 2012 7:35 a.m. PST |
We have dropped this years entry fee for visitors. Entry for them is now FREE on both saturday and sunday. Tournament entry fees are on the website. With the latest info on tournaments. Only 19 working days before the show. So Tournament players, please get your lists and entry fees in ASAP. WRG is Sat & Sunday. Flames of War is Saturday only. 40K is Sunday only. Rest of the details are here: link Any questions please ask! |

It was.. a full write up and photos will follow shortly. I have uploaded 200 odd to the Clubs Facebook page. link If anyone is interest for the moment. The WRG and the 40K went very well. Alas the FOW was not able to be run in the end. A big word of thanks has to go to the traders who supported us and the SOTCW and the Gentleman Pensioners who put on a stunning Boredino game and to those who attended. |
