Just in case anyone wants to dip their toes in the 6th edition waters, the rules are available from here:

You can get all versions 5h and prior from here:

wrg.me.uk Links to previous editions are on the page.

I thought I downloaded 6th edition back sometime too. If I did, it is no longer available online. The page also has copies of older rules sets for different periods.

I have at least 2 sets of the army lists available in case anyone wants. I think one set is near mint.

That includes the "Purple Primer" as well. It is a really good deal for those that like the rules.

Agree – although the puple primer was written at WRG 4th the principals in it are still valid.

I still have my copy of 5th ed – not bad nick and some army lists

I lost my copy of the rules and army lists many years ago, in one of my many moves.
I'm tempted to buy them from Mr. Curry but for his website I don't see mention of the army lists.

I would like to know if they are in the same book of the rules or if they are available somewhere else.

Thanks
Luciano

Army lists come in three WRG volumes and a further volume independently written called Book of Hosts.

The three WRG volumes basically cover the chariot years/early Empires, the rise of cavalry, and medieval armies.
They pop up on Ebay regularly.

I still have my 6th edition rules and all 3 army list books for it. Don't play it anymore but I do use them for reference when designing armies for other ancient gaming systems.

ANCIENTSGAMER,

Could I have the Army Lists of the Late,Middle, and Early Imperial Romans….as well as the Sassinid Persians,Early Germans and the Early Crusader Army List.

I wanting to paint up these Ancients' Armies, for an educational project, more or less, rather than for wargaming purposes.

Thanks,
Wayne

I can send you my e-mail address, so you can send an attachment.

The FOG or DBMM lists would be much better for an educational project. They benefit from a lot more academic research.

Every once in a while I start working on a book to include the WRG army lists, then I get distracted by other projects. Is it worth producing a single collated version of the army lists as part of the History of Wargaming Project?

Alphanor19 Mar 2013 12:52 p.m. PST

I'd buy it.

charliemike20 Mar 2013 4:15 a.m. PST

I'd buy a copy immediately.
