besides ebay, any other way to have all editions of WRG ancient? i'm in china and shipping fee is too expansive for me if buying from ebay. i have worrior, it's great. i would like to read all of WRG ancient books, see the changes between them during these 30 years and it would be a good inspiration for me to design a new rule. so, does anyone sell the pdf version of them? i some some, but not all of them, like 1e,5e on scribd. |

7th you will have to find on ebay or some other site that sells old Wargame books. The reprint from History of Wargaming includes the text from the Airfix Guide to Ancient Wargaming as well as the rules. Army lists are posted on the website for free. |

WRG rules where would we be without them? Yes 7th ed was called Warrior and brought out by another publisher. I have a copy at home somewhere. |

7th would have had to have been heavily revised to make it just slightly more enjoyable than having cocktail sticks poked in my eyes mind you. |

I was happily and (as it turned out), thankfully, playing On To Richmond ACW games when 7th came out. You could tell who was playing 7th Ed. at the local club: they were the ones who couldn't get past the first move without the game descending into a screaming match… In my neck of the woods, 7th Ed. pretty much killed ancients wargaming for some years. Ancients would not become popular again until DBA came out. Which is interesting, as in its incarnation as 'Warrior' at any rate, it was a damned fine rule system. |

Never understood that, seemed to be the same with WAB. Everybody played WRG 6th (that I knew), they brought out a rubbish next version, so everyone stops playing, period. Why not just stick with the old version? |

Probably because 7th was "supported" by Phil Barker , particularly on the tournament scene. Which explains why there were so many different versions of 7th ed. |

I tried to learn to play the W RG ancients rules for many years but was just lost. Then I found DBA and I have been happily playing ancients with those rules since 1991. |
