I just tidied up the bases on some of the Landsknechts I used at Burton last weekend …

picture

Mostly Museum Miniatures with replaced pikes … but the odd figure from elsewhere (a few Essex etc.) mingled in for variety …

picture

Levelled pikes in the front rank (projecting over a one base spacer as discussed on a recent thread) … they played easier and with less tangles than many an army I've used (due to the ease of the spacer) …

I was touched that the Italian mercenary baggage they took along won the 'best baggage' prize …

picture

A busy scene, the tent comes off to reveal the loot of the renaissance men commanding the army (classical art works, scientific instruments as well as much looted material) …

picture

… and the contract table where you can sign on to join the company …

picture

We got 4 good games over the weekend with a reasonable (just below average) spread of results … we did some winning, we looted camps, killed enemy generals and generally pushed our soldiers round most of Europe in a vaguely plausible way.

Thanks to the Badcon guys and thanks to our generous opponents … and a thumbs up for FoG-R thumbs up!!

Superb stuff sir, really lovely looking. Looks like an army not a unit. Well done.

Thanks for the comments …

I really enjoy TMP when people share pictures of their armies and models, so try do do my bit when my soldiers have been out on the tables … But if the comments were less supportive I think there'd be less to look at wink.

A word about Badcon … they still award prizes for the armies (Swampster got best army this year) and I think the players do respond and you do get a very high standard of presentation at the event (all the armies we played against were a joy the fight) – so encouraging effort works …

It is also a spur to me (and I know others) … I finished 100 figures in the week before Usk this year (and I'm not that productive for most of the year) …

Anyway, I had a nice day off at Hammerhead today … just off to sort out the pictures …

Thanks again …

Phil

"I think the players do respond and you do get a very high standard of presentation at the event"

I certainly try to choose something which will look good. I also thought there were a lot of good looking armies and was quite surprised when I found out I had the prize.

I'll try to post some pics soon though I also have a bit of work to do tidying the bases :)
