I was thinking of running a Trojan War scenario in which a single light chariot (carrying a hero) would combine the combat powers of a unit of light chariot (normally 3 models) with the command abilities of a general. Is this going to cause serious problems with the workings of Hail Caesar?

Chiefly I'm concerned about concentrating a lot of clash/sustained dice in a unit with very narrow frontage. 2 or 3 chariots side by side might be able to mow through all infantry… but on the other hand, heroes in the Iliad tend to do just that.

What do you think?

Sure, why not?

Are you seeking to model Late Bronze Age chariotry as it historically was or as it is depicted in the Iliad?

One is not more correct for wargaming than the other, but they may produce different models.

For an Homeric Trojan War scenario I don't see that it would be a problem.

The game I'm planning to run is very influenced by the Iliad … it's actually a struggle to recover Achilles' armor off the corpse of Patroclus!
