figures and what base size for 28 mm? Is it four infantry figures to one 40 mm base? Does it matter? I do not own the rules yet but want to know how much converting of my Warhammer Ancient single based figures are going to be required.

Four 28mm minis on a 40x40 base in two ranks should do.
I base my 28mm all individually on 20x20mm bases 2mm thick (MDF) and use a magnetic base + magnetic foil on the bottom of the bases. That way I can get them into formations as needed on bases or use the same figs in skirmish games or in lose formation when needed.
Hope that helps

Thats a great option to keep in mind, thus the same figures can do 'double duty' as it were.

I tried something different with my 28's. Their a combination Viking-Saxon 'imagination' Dark Age force, originally based on 25mm/1 in. MDF sqrs.
However as BP and HC seem to become more popular, (and my lack of gaming) it seemed more expedient to 'connect' 4 into a single 50x50 'base' of a 4 figure unit.

However I will NOT be doing this with my LoTR collection.
