Hi everyone. I don't see any active forums for the game, so if you are looking for one, I've put one into the Thane's Games forum set: thanesgames.forumchitchat.com

I don't know if anyone is still playing. I have a battle report up from last year here: YouTube link . We still play here and there, but using the 4th edition rules (none of the locals wanted to upgrade to the 5th).

I have no idea what is up with the rules at this point, I've got a couple other games I've been working on. But, if you are looking for a place to hang out, or at least commiserate, there is a forum :) I'd love to here from you!

Huh, it would not let me crosspost. It crashed…

Ok, great. We still play. They are an excellent set of rules! I also like the LOTR stats you created. We have fought some pretty large games using them.

Thanks,

John

There are 5 editions of these now? Wow…

I had a set (edition "back in the day") and thought they were good rules, if not what I was looking for, but I sold them off and then lost track, (Duh on me, if I didn't know there was a 5th edition, obviously,) of them.

What was the reason to not update? Rules were a "good fit" for the group and no one wanted to mess with what was working? Cost? personal loyalty? Tey tried and 5th and felt it moved away from what they wanted?

Great set of rules. I keep coming back to them. I'll have to check to see whet addition I have.

One of the BEST fantasy mass combat rules I've ever played.

Glad to know you're still around, giving support to this engine and that the game isn't dead at all.

I'll sure visit your forum.

Best wishes.

We had been playing with 4th for … 4 or 5 years I think (how long was 4th around?). Everyone already had a copy, no one was excited to update, even though the layout was a lot nicer. And the changes were very small – mostly stuff that had already been FAQ'd for years. Nothing like switching WH editions. The language in 5th was more clear, but no one locally needed the clarity anymore – these were all people with 50+ games under their belt.

That's all. Just no good reason to change.

And thanks for the kind words :) I'm glad to see that it lives on.

We liked the game here, but only played 4 or 5 times.

I was thinking of trying to get it played again in our group, and now there's a new forum for it!

Great!

I'm glad you added a spot for AoA on your Forum, Thane. I'm even happier that I stumbled across this post here. I don't look at the 15mm forum very often because I'm way too heavily invested in 28mm minis. I was thinking of trying to make a forum myself just so people interested in AoA had somewhere to go. Time to register over there.

Its not dead. There is always necromancy you see!

I am working on free linear campaigns to introduce new ways to play AoA, and add a narrative element for those who like that kind of thing. All 'unofficial' and all, but very creative.

Your feedback would go a long way loyal ones! :)
