I was hoping to set up a large "Pig Wars" game set in the early Viking raids against Ireland and the monastic island settlements.

Does anyone know who makes a good 28mm Irish/Celtic style manastery/abbey? I would like a Celtic style church and the stone celtic crosses.

Also, what companies other than Gripping Beast make animals and livestock of any type that would work for Dark Aged animals?

Thanks in advance.

Foundry makes some pigs. Still available via the website anyway.

You might try either Monolith or Hudson and Allen for the buildings. There is a Dark Age church, with a removable roof and great interior detail, done in hard resin but I can't remember who makes it (although I painted one once for a friend).

I picked up some cheap potmetal celtic cross pendants several years ago at a flea market. Epoxied them back to back, painted them up and stuck them on a base. They look great. You might try a shop in your area which carries cheap costume jewelry. The ones I got are about 4" high, and I think they cost a dollar each.

My wife used to have some Celtic cross candles which would probably work too. I think they were bigger, maybe 6" (?) which might work better for 25's. Candle shop, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc might have them. Don't know how you would go about painting them though.

Paper Models Inc has an Irish style monastery. Of course its the wrong size, so you would have to enlarge it. And it is made of paper. But it will give you an idea of what this should look like. I really don't think the current resin models really fit what you are looking for.
