Has anyone come up with a way to play Pig Wars using normal d6 dice instead of playing cards?

There are some good ideas along those lines in the PigWarriors Yahoo group message archives: link

I've used a D12. I suspect you need to set a maximum of 13 though, as otherwise troops in a shieldwall are all but impossible to kill.

We have always used a d6 and a d8 together.

We've been using a D12 for some time. I posted a revised quick reference sheet on the PigWarriors Yahoo! Group some years ago.

We play that 12 is the maximum modified value. The D12 makes for one less point available in the spread, but it works out well. Using 2 x D6 would actually reduce it further since you can only roll 2 through 12.
