Next weekend (May 2-4) will be the always entertaining RECON convention in Orlando, Fl. HMGS South's conventions are always well worth attending! On Saturday night we will be putting on a Pig Wars game for ten players. The game "Like a Swarm of Bees…" is set in Dark Age Ireland and presents a scenario where Viking raiders have tarried a bit too long on their inland raid and have given the Irish countryside time to rally to their leaders and assemble to prevent their return to their ships.
Loaded down with loot, captives, and livestock the Vikings will have to cut their way through the aroused but poorly armed Irish. Of course, each player will also have their own individual motives which helps make each Pig Wars game so interesting. No Pig Wars game master's "script" ever survives contact with the "twisted minds" of the players! Great fun!!! |

Yup… only in Pig Wars can you have a lightly armored Viking who is herding three Irish prisoners back to the boat slay a spearman that tries to free the prisoners, run ahead and jump in the boat and help the sole boat guardsman slay three Irish warriors that are trying to capture the boat, then run back and slay another Irishman who was leading off the unguarded prisoners, then slay one last spearman while prodding the prisoners to climb into the boat. Stripes were earned! |
