Well I've read the reviews and I want to try out these
rules. But which should I get first? Strategos or Lost Battles. Both will end up costing me the same, but I can only afford one at the moment.

Lost Battles are essentialy extended designers notes for Strategos, although they do introduce some new stuff so I guess you could call them Strategos III.

I enjoy reading LB, but I play Strategos II, largely because I'm too lazy to re-do my QRS for the LB revisions.

If you want the bang up to date version, get LB.

Fantastic set of rules, I can't recommend them highly enough, although some people might find them a little academic and dry. They usually produce a nail biting game and look very pretty too.

One day I'll finish my Napoleonic version.

Thanks Martin,
I'll order LB today!

If both will cost the same, I would definitely recomend Lost Battles. I found it fascinating to read how Phil Sabin developed his model of Classical warfare. Lots of good analysis of the battles used as scenarios, and a set of rules to boot!

Get Lost Battles. It is the latest and greatest Strategos series.

I am confused – lost Battles has been recommended to me before but is it the hardback book:

Or is this some other title?

I see Strategos II is now GBP6.00 so is LB really worth the extra?

I have bought loads of books from this company and can say they are the fastest and cheapest i have used….

Strategos is a set of wargame rules.

Lost Battles is newer version of the same set of rules but also has all the historical background and explains how the rules model was arrived at, and how it can be used for refighting battles.
