A fun day in Bletchley, today, for the SOA Battleday. I'm afraid I only really had time to take shots of the Comitatus, game, but I did get quite a few of them.

I didn't see what Simon used, but the Armati game had foam and magnetic sheet, and magnets attached to their cloth
. Gloriously over engineered, I want to try that myself

Thanks for posting – Chalons does seem to generate some rather furious combat! |

Simon, Thanks very much for posting. I staged Chalons a couple of years ago. (Solo contest using Armati.) Your report and pics make my effort look ridiculous, but that's OK! Did you happen to see or note if there was a Hail Caesar version of the battle among the tables? What about Vis Bellica or WAB or DBA? Battle Day is on my bucket list, that's for sure. Thanks again. Chris
The games were:
Armati 15mm (and 15mm Epic), DBA/BBDBA, Comitatus 15mm, Command and Colors: Ancients 20mm, DBA 3 15mm, DBMM 15mm (2), FoG 15mm, Hail Caesar 28mm, Impetus 15mm, Piquet Archon 15mm, The Die is Cast 6mm, War and Conquest 28mm, Warlord 15mm, Warmaster Ancients 6mm
No WAB or Vis Bellica, but most contemporary games represented. I am still editing photos, but managed to get a game in the morning in the Epic Armati – I killed Attila but my Alans lost heart immediately after, when news of Aetius's collapse reached the centre (and the field was left to the leaderless Huns
)

Excellent day. I joined in the War and Conquest game in the morning and had a good time. Must try out the rules again. The Colonel |

The Epic Armati game looked
epic; cast of thousands! I'm absolutely going to try to do something similar terrain-wise with some felt and magnets, myself. Cheers, Simon |

Thanks for that. just got the rules and haven't played yet. What do you put under your baize to get hills? I use dense insulation styrofoam which I cut to shape with a hot wire cutter – all from ebay. Simon |

I don't if Mr Macdowall will look at this thread again, but it would be great to have the OBs which were used for Chalons with the Comitatus rules. I would like to organise a re-fight. Thanks, The Colonel |

Hi, The orders of battle are in the scenario section of my website. at link That is pretty well what I used although I may hace made a few minor modifications. I will be re-doing the chalons scenario in the newer downloadable format available at link Simon |
