I've been a bit neglectful of my Late Antiquity project, so I had another solo game of Comitatus to make sure I had the hang of the rules and to see if I had 2 balanced forces. I still think the Germanic forces are a little weaker, but I could have been a little more tactical in their deployment. Anyway, the upshot was another Roman victory, with the Roman superiority in skirmish forces the game winner. I think if I had used the larger number of Germanic heavy cavalry to negate the Roman advantage in skirmishers, the game would have been different.

They look good! Nice to see the different shield designs. Monger, the rules play very well. It's worth buying them for the illustrations, alone, the author has a stunning collection. |
