Anyone played these rules? From a brief glance they seem to look cool and easy to follow.

Anyone experienced game play?

Well I am the author so yes I have played!
The basic mechanisms were developed from Comitatus so many of the recent comments about Comitatus on this forum will apply to Civitates also. For the moment they are still on-line only (the good news is that they are free) but I hope to get around to doing a fully illustrated hard copy some time next year if all goes well.

I would take a look at them if there were a link.

Thanks Simon.

I had a good look at it was interesting reading.

Just a few things.

How do your rules compare with FOG or DBMM, if they even can be?

Also with Comitatus (which is also very interesting!) could the rules be used for gaming a little later that 1100, say for the wars between Stephan and Matilda?

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,
I cannot make comparisons with FOG or DBMM as I have never played them. The rules are element based and are flexible with scale and basing so you do not have to commit yourself before trying them out.
Yes indeed Comitatus can be extended beyond 1100. As far as I can think all the troop types you need for Anglo-Norman warfare are catered for and I would not see any problem using the rules to cater for the conflict between Stephen and Matilda.
