I must say I loved the movement trays. I'm sure they are home made. Totally not intrusive as wooden once are. Looks great, and… no cluttering. |

Thanks Chaps Everyone had a great time and as War & Conquest uses 'Battle Objectives' to determine victory rather than just the standard 'line them up and crush them' option, results from the game could swing quite suddenly. Neither side knows the others battle objective at the start of the game (you can download special cards off our web site or use a die roll). You can change the objective using a Strategy Intervention Point (a valuable resource) if it does fit with the way the armies deploy or terrain. As example, in my final game my opponent had 'Break through' and so did I. As I only had two Strategy Intervention Points I kept the objective despite it being tough to achieve with heavy infantry and decided to attempt to punch through the centre and right flank to achieve the objective. As my opponent pretty much conceded the centre after his mercenary hoplites discovered their armour and weapons must have been supplied by a dubious Persian arms dealer and were wiped out – I was on for achieving the objective – as was my opponent as he had moved all his fast moving troops onto my left and there was nothing I could do about it. With a turn left, he completed his objective and all I needed to do was double pace a Spartan phalanx off the table and I also would have achieved my objective – Hoorah!!! However there was a catch- to double pace a phalanx they needed to complete a Command test, roll 3D6 (the formation was still over half strength), select the lowest two and so long as the total was 7 or less all was well. So as you can probably guess, I managed to roll higher with all the dice and fail!! Never mind it was great fun anyway..!!! Rob scarabminiatures.com warandconquest.co.uk |
