I've been unable to source the probably mythical V2 of the Field of Glory-ancients rule book.

I * have* found a QRS sheet & a summary of the changes. I'm trying to reverse engineer it but the summary tells me the new version prohibits Leapfrogging & Teleporting.
I have no idea what these terms signify. They are not in my V1 rulebook. I'd dearly love to abstain from doing either but as I don't know what they are, possibly I'm practicing them now.

Any clarification of this dense jargon is welcome.

Can't say. V2 was, originally, only iPad and… PC? Anyway a limited number of physical copies were finally printed. Finding one will be difficult I'd image.

As to the question it's self I don't recall it. Have you searched Slitherines FoG forums?

In other rules I've seen terms like this used for moving units over distance not allowed in movement rules by doing maneuvers and formation changes.

IIRC it's something like moving LF into contact with a friendly unit (or even worse two or more units) and it pops out the other side, exceeding it's normal movement allowance (possible by a large amount) as it does so.

Marshal Mark has it correct. It was moving LH/LF so that they legally interpentrated another unit but did not have the movement to clear. They were then teleported through.

I have the version 2 rule book but it remains unread and I am slowly migrating back to DBMM.

The version 2 book was (and probably still is) print on demand.
