Is there one? As opposed to a battline in a very deep line that does not kink when it wheels.

I can't find anything specific. Any suggestions?

Which period?

Columns are not uncommon in FoG-AM and there are special rules for them in V2 …

Antiquity. Mediaeval too at a pinch. What do the rules specify?

Many thanks.

If you are one base wide, and are not a 2 base BG (of non-knights) or a four base BG of pike (both of which would normally fight one base wide) then you are in column. Columns kink when they wheel. There are advantages for movement through terrain in FOG 1, and in FOG 2 a kinked column cannot voluntarily charge or intercept. Columns are particularly vulnerable to shooting, as only the first three ranks of any BG count for hits per bases, so 1 hit on a column causes a CT.

Thanks Marshal. A thorough answer.

Thanks MM … saved me having to look things up (as I don't have any books handy).
