I am collecting a Marian legion in the tactica game (talk about a LOT of models) and basing the infantry on blocks of 3/8 balsam wood 1" deep by 60 mm wide(4 man stands) and 30 mm wide (2 man stands)

Skirmishers 30mm X 1"
Light infantry 20 mm X 30 mm
Cavalry 20mm X 40 mm

What other game systems can I used this for? Or am I locked into tactica and tactica only?

Thanks

The frontages are the same as those of WRG elements, which is pretty well the standard for anything that isn't WAB. So for anything aside from WAB, you should be fine. And if you make up a few singles you could probably use them for WAB, too; at least if it is a Civil War, fighting troops on the same frontages.

Any word about Tactica 2…. It was rumored to released for Historicon this year….No go…. Instead we got a playtest of Shako2…

What is the scoop?

DBX based games use 60mm wide elements for all 25mm troops and 40mm for 15mm.

A short list (I'm sure there are lots more) includes:
Warrior (ex WRG 7th edition, re-written)
Armati
DBA
DBM
DBMM
most likely the future Fields of Glory
Warrior Kings

Any word about Tactica 2….

There has been a lot of talk on the yahoo group about T2 being playtested by various groups, but nothing concrete or definite about a release date.

Yup. Since Historicon 2002 onwards I recall hearing such rumors.

Arty said it is in the final play testing and begining editing phase. I imagine sometime next year. Which is fine with me, well worth it to wait for the new edition of the best Ancient rules out there.

YEs. But don't hold your breath. If you back to early posts in 2002 and so on, you'll see that T2 has been promised for quite some time. I agree that it's a great game. Worth the wait, I suppose. But some are bound to get tired waiting. laugh

Thanks for the help so far (not sure about the Tactica 2 side conversation though:)

DBX seems a given (although I don't like what I've seen of DbA)
WRG seems like a solid choice (heard it was a bit lengthy in rules)

What about the die is cast? Legion and Empire? Ancient Empires?

I've seen some of these rules but cannot discern if my basing is standard for those games.

Thanks
