The other day I came across my old Tactica
rulebook and fell in love with the rules again.
I'm considering raising two rival armies for the rules,
just can't decide on which two.
For those of you that have played, which two ancient army matchup did you find gave you the best game?

Roman civil war, Macedonian vs, Hoplite, Romans vs. Gauls, Celts, or Germans. Also Repubilican Romans vs,Carthingians ,etc. IMHO Mike Adams P.S. I have been using these rules for over ten years.

Republican Romans vs Carthage, and my favorite is Spartans vs Thebes.

Armenians from book two against the Romans…icky!

Echo on Romans versus Gauls, Celts or Germans…very fun!

Still have a soft spot for Tactica, and I still think the phalanx matchups are the best.

I had some really great games with Macedonians vs. Achamenid Persians.

Hey coopman, thanks about the Persians and Macedonian, Iforgot to mention them, also Hoplites verus Persians.

Byzantines vs. Persians or Arabs is a fun one. But I'll second the Caesarean Roman vs. Barbarian (anyone of them are fun) match-up

Hope you've got a lot of free time and cash to collect/paint the figures required. I am a year and three months into my Romans vs. Gauls tactica armies, the pile of lead is a definite health hazard.

There is a reason it is also called "Plastica". You can pick up tons of 1/72 figs for not a lot of dough. The thought of painting the requisite number of 25mm Germans or Celts is terrifying.

>>>79thPA says<<<< The thought of painting the requisite number of 25mm Germans or Celts is terrifying.<<<<<

welcome to my world. Guys in my club who introduced me to the game have 2 or more armies each (one guy has 6 I believe) all fully painted, based and flocked in 25mm.

The Celts lie before me to be painted. . .
