Has anyone played this game? I have heard from a friend that it is pretty good, but wanted to get some feed back on it to see if it is something I would like to get into – rather read a review than buy it and find I dont like it :) Thanks! |

I would recommend Might of Arms. Certain matchups in Tactica are pretty predictable as to outcomes. Tactica is a nice set of rules though. |

no problem. As it is an older set of rules you never know how much of a following it or similar older rules have. I guess it depends on your use. I try to configure my units to play multiple systems and I usually play at home with my son so I doesn't matter to me. All rules are different, its all what you make of them and what you want out of your gaming experiance. |

Tactica is my favorite ancients game. I can't speak to all matchups but many that I have played are real nail biters. Tactica has a ridged movement system as originally designed but the new version and some house rules have tended to loosen this somewhat. They are written in clear, understandable language with clear and understandable diagrams and examples. |

And you should be able to get them pretty cheap! |

We, use them all the time a great set of rules, but still waiting for Tactica 2 After 5 or more years!!!! Mike Adams |

Might of Arms are very clearly written as well and with diagrams too;-) They don't have all the nice and fluffy pictures of miniatures though! I got my copy from Bob Bryant direct for $5 USD plus shipping. Not sure if he is still selling them directly like this. I still have one copy and gave another to a friend. At bargain basement pricing for either, buy both! |

Another plug for "Might of Arms". You won't be disappointed. P. |

Those are the two I am looking into, Tactica and Might of Arms, neither one will break the bank and I hear that the basing is similar enough that the troops should be pretty interchangeable from one set to the next. I appreciate the quick replies and the comments about both! |

My only minor quibble about MOA: some bad morale rolls and your army might just run away – kinda like the real thing. Still, disappointing when it happens. |

My only minor quibble about MOA: some bad morale rolls and your army might just run away – kinda like the real thing. Still, disappointing when it happens. This can be kinda bad if you played for a half of an evening and then it happens. You don't really have time for another game. When it happens early on, everybody can laugh, "rack 'em up" and start again! |

that has a tendency to happen in all games though – I have played a few games of Flames of War where my opponent won on the start of turn two, lucky rolls, bad deployment and fast moving units really turned the game upside down! I have also had games where I was winning until a specific turn, had a round of really bad rolls, against some key units and my army runs. I will be getting a copy of MoA this weekend and will see what I can do to round up an old copy of Tactica I and watch vigilantly for Tactica II. Thanks again gents |
